My all-time favorite superhero movie costumes.

1)
ironman.jpg

Hands down best interpretation of a comic book character for a movie, with an air of believablity about the costume.

2)

Kudos for making the suit so close to John Ramita style spider-man, which is the best known. Falls short of no. 1, because it's hard to believe a kid with no money could make this on his own.

Whatever you thought of the movie, the costumes were spot on.

4)

Again, you can complain about the movie, you can't complain about the interpretation here.

A good job of trying to keep the look of the comic book, but making the outfit work for the movie.

Silver Surfer doesn't deserve a spot on any costume list, as it was 100% animated.

I think it does count. They used Doug Jones live action to interpret the character, and a the de-powered surfer was Jones in prosthetics.

I tried to have a smattering of things on my list, from the "traditional" tight clad heros, to prosthetic makup ala hellboy, to CGI.

All of these things are like paint pallets for the costume design team. You can pick and choose, which ones work for a given situation.

I also tried as much as I could to include some of the older superhero films, because those guys had alot less to work with, but Reeves in the Superman suit still looks great today as it did in 1978. Better than Brandon Routh's suit IMO.

Brandon's suit was a nightmare. I'm really not a fan of Supes' look in general-as I feel it's largely impractical & gave birth to some bad trends, but at least Reeve LOOKED like the Man Of Steel.

OK time for my top 10 Villian costumes:

1.)
spiderman_2_doc_t_L.jpg

The combination of CGI and real life working tentacles make this the best villian interpretation on film.

2.)

Taking the classic Joker look to the silver screen. This is probably what they would have done back in the 60's with the right budget. Kinda creepy, funny and scary, exactly what the Joker should be.

3.)
two-face-tdk.jpg

Believeable? Hell no, but it was the best interpretation of two-face we've seen on film.

4.)
doom.jpg

I debated on this one, but I put it in because that mask was perfect despite other flaws n the costume.

5.)

A hot naked blue chick! What else do you want me to say???

6.)
ironman_bigslideshow1.jpg

I put this in, because it was really freakin' cool!!!!

7.)
large_SpiderMan%203%20-%20Church%20as%20Sandman-11781260938pm9bi9f.jpg

Why is a guy in a green striped T-shirt, and brown pants on this list? Because some times in life the simplest things are the best.

8.)
magneto1.jpg

Yes Pyro, it is a dorky looking helmet, but it's my list so shut up.

9.)
joker_empire_lesser_text.jpg

I was not a fan of this re-imaging of the joker, but Ceasar Romero would never have worked for this film. The fact that the Joker is only shown without his makeup once (and only for a brief second) also makes up for it.

10.)

He sure beats Absorbing-Dad.

I like the symbiote costume, but it seems unoriginal. I like the original colours better, and I would have loved the symbiote costume had they gone with the comics version. It might have even tied with Iron Man if I saw it in action.

See, I felt that the way they went for the movie was better. I like this suit,
180px-Spider_Man_002.gif

It looks really cool. But it's not a good look FOR HIM. It looks dark, sinister & too far-removed from the image of a "Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man". I think that may be why they introduced the idea of the suit changing his personality. And this symbol
Venom-symbol.png

has a weird grouping of the legs; I've known many uninitiated people* who confused it with a bat. THe version they used in the movie, to me,
spider-man-.jpg

looked like something he would actually wear, rather than a knockoff of the new Spider-Woman's outfit.
Spiderwoman2Sit.gif

I think had they gone the route they did on Spectacular, where the symbiote gradually morphs his look, I could more easily connect the original black suit to Spider-Man.
I also think Venom benefitted from there being a drastic distance between how the symbiote looked on Spidey

and how it looked on him.

I think the flash costume was actually pretty good.
It had a nose similar to the batman costume, but other than that, it was pretty much it's own thing. It WASN'T rubber OR a wetsuit. AND he could turn his head!
The muscles were a bit big, but I think they shrunk them a bit thankfully, and after that, it didn't look bad at all. It was pretty accurate to the comic for it's time, and overall I think it was a forgotten step forward in terms of live action costumes.

That's Shawn Ashmore his twin brother Aaron Ashmore plays Olsen.
But he played Iceman first.

Shawn also played a villain on "Smallville" in its early seasons; I believe Clark's powers accidentally got transferred to him & he abused them.

Though I disagree with the choice they made, I will not deny that it looks phenomenal on screen for Spider-man.

It would've been cool to see the costume give more benefits to Parker, seeing as how it's a symbiote and supposed to give equal weight in a relationship. Just something that would made it actually difficult to leave the suit. I always see Parker giving up that particular suit up in a second.

Well, in all fairness, he already had his own webbing so it couldn't give him that. Maybe the morphing quality would've been nice, but I kind of liked the way he would keep the suit hidden.
And truth be told, I have always considered it more of a parasite than a symbiote; in any incarnation we've seen, it always took more than it gave. Brock benefitted from the suit exponentially more than Peter did, & even then it was still taking more from him.

That's right...and then Shawn's brother Aaron got the role of Jimmy Olsen.

LOL...nah, just making observations and such.

Something that I have just begun to realize, being that I am still young.

That's why I enjoy the comic's Spider-man interaction with the suit the best, at first it was in all cases a good thing, a proper symbiote. Over time it seems to have developed into a parasite, which I do not like.

Although, now that I think about it, Carnage's suit was the only one that really co-existed.

As well, if all the suits gave as much as they took, everyone should've gotten a symbiote.

I wonder what would happen if Spider-man, being a host with the suit, had offspring. An interesting story to say the least.

Even when Spidey had it in the comics, it was still a parasite. It kept him asleep, took him out against his will, & left him constantly feeling drained. Not exactly a good trade-off for webbing, a quick change & a place to put your keys.

I thought he gained additional power too.

Or am I confusing that with the show?

In comparison, as well, for most people, and even aliens, to merge with Spider-man would make him more evil anyway. I mean, who's really that compassionate? Certainly not me.

See, the concept of him gaining strength & his personality changing-all that came from the 90's TAS. I have since found myself wondering why Marvel didn't think of that. Again, if he no longer looks like the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, is it not perfectly logical that he would cease to act like the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man as well? Your costume is supposed to be a reflection of your attitude. Look at Batman. When they put him in a blue cape & cowl, they gave him a friendlier demeanor to go along with it. And while this was a bad move IMO, it was at least consistent.
