My Issue with "New Goblin"

No! I mean the next day when he's reforming back to his human state.

Ok so say it flew to the edge when Flint got hit trying to escape. Now the locket is at the edge of the pit, far enough away so that it will not get turned into sand.

Now how the hell does it make it from edge of the pit all the way back to the middle? I dont suppose it crawled back now do you? :o

Its just a plot hole, theres no way that it can be explained.

I kind of wish they had gone with that "bastard child of a HALO soldier and Iron Man" design for Harry from the "Spider-Man 3 Chronicles" book.

Anyone have a picture of this?

Sure that explains how it could have got to the edge of the sand pit, but it wouldnt explain how it got back to the middle.

When sandman was reforming himself, all the sand was getting sucked into the middle.

And, if all the sand got sucked to the middle, and penny's locket wasn't made of sand, how did the locket get to the middle?

think its dumb how flints clothing is made out of sand too

The locket was in the sand at the edge of the pit, and got dragged into the middle with the sand! I think that you are desperate for a plothole!

If they weren't gonna make Harry into a Goblin, then they should of made him into some other classic villain, like the Beetle.

Agreed.

I actually would have enjoyed him as the Beetle!

Wow. So because Raimi strayed just a little bit by having Harry become New Goblin rather than GGII, you'd prefer he completely screwed it all up?

"New Goblin." I still love the name.

"So new he resembles nothing of the Green Goblin!" :woot:

You'd rather he look like a Power Rangers reject?

I think you're desperate to deny their existence.:o

Ugh, are people really debating this?

It's a movie. Sandman doesn't have thought bubbles to read, we need a visual indicator of the characters thoughts and motivations. The locket served this purpose.

If the movie had been more realistic and the locket had been vaporized, the character of Sandman would still do the things he does for his daughter except the audience wouldn't really be aware.

That's because the Raimi brothers prefer cliched stories than those with dialog and character development.

Why are we talking about Sandman in a topic about New Goblin?

If you notice the sand doesn't get demolecularized so it's pretty much supposed to be assumed that only organic material is being broken down..

I don't think they EVER refer to him as New Goblin in the movie aside from Peter's taunting. He's always referred to as "Harry".

Back on topic:

There was originally a scene before Harry uses the Goblin formula on himself, where Norman essentially pushes his son over the edge into becoming the New Goblin. It's in the novel and part of it is in a few of the trailers. So an extended cut would definitely remedy the movie's quick buildup to Harry's transformation.

Everyone keeps saying that Sandman's belt buckle was demolecularized by the process, showing that it affects metals too. But how do we know that it was demolecularized? Just because we don't see it lying in the sand pit doesn't mean anything.

I think the whole "New Goblin" concept was rushed. He was ment to be the second Green Goblin, that was what Harry was ment to do..but it was chopped up..and put into SM3.

Yeah, you can see it reforming when he gets out of the sand pit.

So, the locket was a plot hole.
