Hey everyone,

I wanted to share this. Didn't know where else to post it, so I made a thread(Mods feel free to move it).

I just wanted to make everyone aware of this guy.
His name is Rich Perotta. He is an inker for both Marvel and DC and I was friends with him on Facebook for a while.

A little back story, a close friend of mine made a simple status which led to this guy making some homophobic ''jokes''. My friend proceeded to tell him how and why his comments were offensive, and then unfriended him.

Yesterday, he makes a not so subtle status about her. Bashing her, calling her talentless and saying she has no personality.
Of course, she has no way to stand up for herself, so I say something. I realize it isn't exactly my business, but she is a very close friend and I wasn't about to let someone say such things.
So, I posted something on his wall and needless to say, the name calling and threats didn't take long.

Again, I know it wasn't my business, but I'm sure most would stand up for their friend in this kind of situation. And I don't take lightly to such comments.
Oh, and he also proceeded to tell another friend that he was just ''joking'' about all this stuff.

Rich Perotta said that? Holy crap, man.

Who's Rich Perotta?

LOL, I guess he really isn't anyone special, but he's still worked for the big two.

The guy's just another of legions of nobodies with bad opinions. You had a run-in with him and then you showed us here. It's really not a big deal in the long run.

I don't know who this guy is but it's shocking that in this day and age individuals are still willing to drop the F word without remorse. I hope DC and Marvel takes a stand against this guy.

On behalf of our entire LGBT community I want to thank you for standing up to this guy Matt.

Sorry to hear about this dude. If anything I'm as disturbed by the guy's inability to type or spell properly...

What was the homophobic comment?

EDIT: Hang on, saw the '***' remark and the purse joke.

Naming and shaming tsk tsk. This is private stuff.

PS : I have no opinion for I don't know the context of the story.

He was going on and on about how his ex or something took him to see Brokeback Mountain and saying how he ''lost all his masculinity because he watched it and then continued with some additional messed up comments. ''I had to punch a guy, eat raw steak, and knock up two college cheerleaders to be a man again!''

No, it's not. It happened publicly on Facebook. And throwing comments like that doesn't deserve any sort of protecting or coddling.

Would it have been any different if it was someone of color and he was yelling racist obscenities?

And I explained and showed the context of the story.

That last part is actually kind of funny.

I'm fine with this...I mean, I don't agree with him but it doesn't bother me. He can say what he wants. It's a free country. He's not oppressing anyone with his misguided opinions.

Not really.

:whatever: Would you be fine with it if he was talking to a black person and calling them the N word.

''freedom of speech'' is such a lame excuse.

It happened to me. I'm NOT fine with it. And I know many others aren't.

I don't get how people try to justify this type of stuff or just say ''its ont big deal!''

Yes I would. Would I be fine if he was trash talking my religion? Yes I would. Because once we start trying to outlaw opinions than we start down an even darker path than the opinion itself.

As long as it's not oppressing someone else than whatever.

No, not whatever. Letting people get a pass for their idiotic way of talking and just say, ''its freedom of speech!'' is completely BS.

So this guy outright called me a ***, amongst other things, as I shouls just forget about it? Yeah, no.
Maybe it doesn't bother you because it didn't happen to you.

I think you should call him a pejorative back, personally.

That's how I deal with ethnic slurs.

And maybe insult his mother.

That's the very definition of freedom of speech. He gets to say what he wants.

Heck, i've dealt with people that bashed my personal beliefs and you know what? I don't care. Their opinions don't alter me, they don't change my life. It's their opinion. I'm not going to start crying because I was offended because that's life...not everyone is going to agree with you and some of them are going to be complete asses about it. Unless you want a communist nation then you just have to take the high road and move on and realize you CAN'T CONTROL PEOPLE.

Lol no, I won't stoop to that level.

I think everyone on both our friends lists seeing this is punishment enough

Well, I don't know about that. You seen... what was his name lately? That Firefox guy.

Gay people can make people go away.

Except for Tracy Morgan. Not really sure how he got away with it.

Okay, yeah. He can say what he wants, but he(and anyone who says/does something similar) better be prepared for the consequences of their hateful speech.

The gay mafia does not mess around, that much I have learned.

Quite frankly, if I have to choose between them and the Sicilians...

Hope this guy likes working for Jack Chick.

Ah well, people will think what they think. And there will always be people there to tell them otherwise, I guess.

You're confusing freedom of speech with freedom from consequences. By your logic anyone should be able to spread whatever vitriolic hate speech they want under the blanket protection of "freedom of speech".

Also, I have no idea what communism has to do with this? It's not about controlling people, it's about making sure everyone knows they're accountable for their behaviour. Quite simple.

Freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from consequences. He said some homophobic things, so some other person called him out on facebook. No one's freedom is being trampled on here.

ETA: Ack! DeadPresident beat me to it!
