Fox is going for surprises, right?

Maybe I'm just some crazy but hopeful fan, or maybe I know what I'm talking about. I'll leave that for you to decide.

X-Men: The Last Stand has so many more plotlines, characters, action scences, secret & unscripted scences, etc. compared to X1 and 2, that I just don't know how FOX can possibly make it under 2 hours? How many scene cuts did it take? Is this movie even going to make any sense?

Ever since the news of the running time popped up, I've been freaking out, worrying that this movie was destined to become another one of Marvel's failures. But then, I watched the theatrical trailer, and let me tell ya, it did me wonders. As I watched it, I had no doubt in my mind that this movie would be a good 2 hours long and that this 1 hr. 43 minutes running time was false.

Then again, the Cannes Film Festival is a big event and not prone to mistakes, especially mistakes dealing with one of this summer's biggest blockbusters.

So I started thinking about every confirmed thing about this movie and it just isn't possible to fit everything, as the cast & crew described it, in this film. Simon Kinberg and Zak Penn have both said numerous times that this film was filled with emotional scences that were just as powerful and plentiful as the action scenes.

How can so much drama and so much eye-popping action be crammed under 2 hours?

Maybe FOX is trying to be clever, by purposely posting that running time. That's why they are not confirming it. They want fans to get all hyped up about it, just like with the AICN review, and then the second some more news comes along, the fans are begging for more. They want to keep us on our toes. They want the anticipation to be on the same high since it has been from Day One all the way to the finish line.

Or maybe, FOX is like showing a trailer of X3 at the Cannes. Excluding clips that develop certain characters and etc., but don't do too much to the overall plot. Maybe they are leaving out the true secrets out of the viewing at the Cannes so that we have to go on May 26 to find out for ourselves. Seriously, the day it is showed at Cannes, the day the whole movie and its secrets are truly spoiled for us. I think FOX wants us to go out and buy our own tickets, by showing at Cannes a shortened version of the film.

So, all in all, I think I've said my say. Perhaps both websites are correct (Cannes and that Dutch Sight), but one is the full version (w/ credits) and the other is the watered down version.

Maybe I'm a fanatic...or maybe I'm just bored.

I think it will be around that time. I doubt Fox would post/give a false time to the Cannes site to fool fanboys.

Although, alot of their times are off by in some cases 15 mins, that is alot.

I am still waiting for confirmation.

If that's true, then Fox are even bigger morons then I had once thought.

I doubt that FOX gave false info to Cannes. I'm saying that both Cannes and Fox are aware that they aren't showing the true film. By not telling the fans, hype will generate. Companies love it.

Why would they be morons? If you were producing a film, wouldn't you want all these rumors, hype, worries, and anticipation to last until opening day? The media notices it and publishes stuff about it, and thats how movies become popular...which means, Fox gets more money.

I doubt it since Cannes usually show sometimes even longer cut , but on the other hand, even if i don't wan't people to have their hopes too highs ,and even if some kind of big "trailer" for X3 of 1H43 sound a little too much, last Year michael Bay showed only 45 minutes of the the Island to the mondial press.

Now , again , don't get your hopes to high.

Personnaly i believe that the fact that Fox don't say anything yet(since three days) confirm the running time..

i believe they're looking for a way to answer adequately , to defend their running time.

Still an interesting and respectable effort BoBByJoMo :)

I'm waiting for official confirmation before I give any opinion on the running time.

When I said 'trailer', I meant that Cannes would show the film, just not the complete film that we're going to get on May 26. There will be scenes that were not shown (ones that were not even in the script, as Stewart said) that will be left for viewers to watch the day the movie opens up worldwide.

Oh and thank you, Maze. I do my best.

Yes , i understood it like that..

but really i doubt it.

Cannes is really a window for movies.

it's a "chance" (not saying that X3 really need Cannes but it can give it a prestigious visibility) and i really doubt that Fox would not promote there ,the best they have (assuming that the movie is good)

I'm not really sure and I want to wait for some real confirmation. Hopefully Simon and Zak will clear things up. I think that its more likely to be real than fake though.

i just dont understand why zak and simon would say it would be longer than x1 and shorter than x2 and than it end up being shorter than both of them... thats the only reason i think it might be a mistake.

my bet/ hope held out for x3 to be at least 2 hours long is...

Cannes Film festival is one of the artsiest festivals around, half the time if you wish to win their awards your movie can't speak english, they don't care about big budget action scenes there, i would bet if x3 is longe then the showing at cannes it is because they left out a big action scene or two, or a scene with alot of visual effects to finish them off...

what was the report by the way, did cannes film festival itse;f say x3 was an hour and 43 minutes?

i dunno that just seems to short to believe ya know, i mean movies with no depth whatsoever are going for 2 hours these days (Bad Boys 2...painstakingly) i think i will choose not to believe and see for myself or unless an official conformation is made
