Fox is going for surprises, right?
Maybe I'm just some crazy but hopeful fan, or maybe I know what I'm talking about. I'll leave that for you to decide.
X-Men: The Last Stand has so many more plotlines, characters, action scences, secret & unscripted scences, etc. compared to X1 and 2, that I just don't know how FOX can possibly make it under 2 hours? How many scene cuts did it take? Is this movie even going to make any sense?
Ever since the news of the running time popped up, I've been freaking out, worrying that this movie was destined to become another one of Marvel's failures. But then, I watched the theatrical trailer, and let me tell ya, it did me wonders. As I watched it, I had no doubt in my mind that this movie would be a good 2 hours long and that this 1 hr. 43 minutes running time was false.
Then again, the Cannes Film Festival is a big event and not prone to mistakes, especially mistakes dealing with one of this summer's biggest blockbusters.
So I started thinking about every confirmed thing about this movie and it just isn't possible to fit everything, as the cast & crew described it, in this film. Simon Kinberg and Zak Penn have both said numerous times that this film was filled with emotional scences that were just as powerful and plentiful as the action scenes.
How can so much drama and so much eye-popping action be crammed under 2 hours?
Maybe FOX is trying to be clever, by purposely posting that running time. That's why they are not confirming it. They want fans to get all hyped up about it, just like with the AICN review, and then the second some more news comes along, the fans are begging for more. They want to keep us on our toes. They want the anticipation to be on the same high since it has been from Day One all the way to the finish line.
Or maybe, FOX is like showing a trailer of X3 at the Cannes. Excluding clips that develop certain characters and etc., but don't do too much to the overall plot. Maybe they are leaving out the true secrets out of the viewing at the Cannes so that we have to go on May 26 to find out for ourselves. Seriously, the day it is showed at Cannes, the day the whole movie and its secrets are truly spoiled for us. I think FOX wants us to go out and buy our own tickets, by showing at Cannes a shortened version of the film.
So, all in all, I think I've said my say. Perhaps both websites are correct (Cannes and that Dutch Sight), but one is the full version (w/ credits) and the other is the watered down version.
Maybe I'm a fanatic...or maybe I'm just bored.
