The weekend of November 15th and 16th, my softball team will be in Myrtle Beach playing in a showcase tournament. We're arriving that Friday.

That out of the way, none of us have ever been to Myrtle Beach and when we're not playing, we're going to be looking for stuff to do.

Those of you familiar with the area or have been there, can yall recommend some places/things to do for us to check out. Since it's November, the waterparks are closed.

Thanks!:woot:

I've been there a few times, but remember absolutely nothing about the trips.

I worry my brain my be aging faster than everything else. :o

I've been there quite a bit, being as it was only 3 hours from my college and an hour and a half from where I live now. It sucks. It's called the Redneck Riviera for a reason. There is a 'Wings' and a 'Fudruckers' on every block...and in case you don't know what 'Wings' is, it's a shop that sells cheap beach novelties. About the only fun time to go there is bike week, because you can check out all the awesome Harleys as they roll through town, but even that gets old. The Hard Rock there is pretty nice, and they have that Led Zepplin ride...but I haven't tried it yet, and I'd have to be dragged to Myrtle Beach to even go.

BTW, Myrtle Beach has a high incidence of STDs, and every time I've gone there I've stayed in the seediest hotels I've ever seen. A friend of mine caught crabs from his toilet seat once...not a joke...on our college beach weekend. Thankfully we were not sharing a room together. It reminds you of a lot of those cities you see in movies like The Punisher. You feel like every five minutes you're going to get in a fight with some roving street gang or disgruntled Fudruckers employees. Our beach weekends were fun, no doubt, but damn, come Sunday we wanted to get the hell out of that place. You couldn't have paid us to stay another day. One day, maybe two days there you'll be like "okay, this ain't so bad", but you wake up that third morning and you just feel dirty from being there.

Yup.

12 years, actually, but yours works better

Get used to the words 'Wings', 'Mirage' and 'Surf Shop'....you'll only see it once every ten feet.

I remember going to Myrtle Beach as a kid and sitting at the beach. I used to dig my hands into the sand and come up with these little soft shelled crab dealies. I had no idea what they were but they didn't have claws... or maybe they did but they didn't pinch me or anything. But I squashed them anyway... all day... *squish squish*

Snails?

No they weren't snails. Did type the word snail or snails anywhere in that post? They were some sort of crab okay... C.R.A.B.

I haven't been there in a few years, but hopefully you'll stay on the North side. It's the nicer area. It depends on what you want to get into. Surfside accommodations aren't that great, but there's a couple of good bars in that area. During the day there are a lot of miniature golf places around. If you guys don't want to swim at the beach(it's pretty filthy nowadays), you can rent atv's to ride around for a reasonable price.

Also, I can't remember the name, but there's a show full of impersonators who mimic superstars like Elvis, Rod Stewart, Michael Jackson, Cher, and a lot of others that I can't remember. When I was dragged to go see it, I thought it would be terrible, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was pretty good actually. If it's still playing, ask someone around the area, and they should be able to tell you.

There's a lot of stuff to do if you just walk around and meet people with your group.

Crab without claws? And a shell? Sounds like a snail. :o

As I said in my original post, I was a kid which would indicate that this happened a looooOOOOooOOOoong time ago. I also stated that the crab (C.R.A.B. not snail) might have had claws. I put the word might in as a catchall to ensure that in case my memory wasn't 100 percent that I would still be in the right. So let's not play jump to conclusions here about something that you aren't sure of, Reddy.

well thanks for the scary details lol, i'll be sure not to mention those

the impersonators concert has been brought up, so that's a possibility. we wanted to go to this wildlife preservation but i think it's closed during the winter months.

also, there's a couple of Ripley's type places, has anyone been to any of them?

I forgot about the Wildlife center(the Alligator ranch, right?). They had some baby Albino ones there on my last visit. I'm not sure about the opening/closing times though.

I've been to the Ripley's there. I didn't like it that much, but maybe they've added a few things since my visit. The wax statue of the world's tallest man was kind of interesting, but as a whole, it's little more than a way to waste some time. You might like it. I don't know how many people are in your group, but you guys might want to try and rent a speedboat to take out for 1/2 day. I'm sure there's a place around there that still does that kind of thing.

the wildlife place i was talking about is for endangered species, it has lots of tigers and stuff, including the LIGER!!! the world's biggest is there.

Day 1: Watch CC play softball
Day 2: Follow CC around
Day 3: Add CC's hair and gum to my shrine
Day 4: Drink the magic Koolaid to become CC to then kill Holly:cmad::boba:

There's a liger at the wildlife preservation you're referring to? I didn't know there were any in the States. Yeah, if you have the chance, definitely go see it. Do you know if this specific one was captured or was it bred in captivity?
