Namor the Sub-Mariner

How good an actor is he though?

Well, he may not be a Christian Bale, but if you see him in Game of Thrones and Conan The Barbarian, you'll see that he's a pretty capable actor. He's also got an awesome presence. I'm very eager to see him go it at villainy in the upcoming Bullet To The Head playing opposite Sly Stallone.

His stint as Drago on GoT was awesome. I never really thought about him until I read your post Trooper. I'd be all for him as Namor.

I still like Rock for Cage, honestty, but I think he could interpret Namor nicely as well.

Since he was just signed for Hercules, I think that will be a nice little audition for his future in a Marvel movie. Hopefully, it won't suck too bad (Ratner is directing) but even if it does, I hope Rock

Woops, got a little trigger happy!

*Hopefully the rock gives a solid performance regardless the overall movie so we can see how he tackles a god/hero*

I have read quotes from him that he has actually started writing a script to a Conan sequel. He is really into the character. Haven't heard of any timetables for a Conan sequel to be done but if he got tabbed for Namor and could do both Namor and Conan, that'd be interesting.

Since CTB flopped, I doubt there will be much movement on a sequel anytime soon. Who knows?

Namor could be something both similar and yet different from Conan, that Momoa could find interesting. Now, the one thing that I would be curious is if Momoa could do a "regal" type of vocabulary.

Honestly, while I like Namor, and think he belongs in the MCU, I don't think he could support a solo movie. He'd work better as the main. . . "obstacle?". . . in a future rebooted Fantastic Four movie. "Fantastic Four explore underwater, find Atlantis. King Namor is arrogant and paranoid about surfacers. Fantastic Four earn his trust when they save Atlantis from traitors within, proving that surfacers are not without all honor." Something like that.

*crosses fingers for FF rights to revert*

Did I mention I want to see this movie happen?

Namor should definately first be introduced in an Avengers sequel, since Fox still has Fantastic Four(I believe), and Marvel has Namor.

Well, I'll just say that anything Dwayne Johnson can do, Momoa can do.

i'd say Rock has more charisma than Mamoa, Mamoa is as bad as Steven Strait and Taylor Lautner, all 3 being interchangable

Well, I for one, just can't picture Dwayne Johnson doing as good a Drogo as Momoa did in GOT.

Ditto, Dwayne could have never pulled that off.
I can picture him raising his eyebrow and making a mockery of the character

Its a shame those "start wars under water"plans never came to fruition.. :(

I went to see John Carter this weekend(great film btw), and there were two actors in the film that somehow got me thinking of Namor:

James Purefoy

and

Dominic West

I hope Namor shows up in an Avengers sequel.. in keeping with the comics, maybe as a foe at first striking against pollution, then an ally by the end of the film..

Agree about West, he'd be a good choice for Namor.

If they have a Namor movie, what should they call it? Namor or Sub-Mariner? Which sounds more marketable?

I don't know, I think they'll go with The Sub-Mariner.
