Namor the Sub-Mariner

I always liked the character, and the suit design, of a character called Stingray. Don't now if he's around anymore, but he had a great look and I always felt he was under-utilized. If I remember correctly, he wasn't really a villain. He was an oceanographer who had designed a suit that would allow him to breathe underwater and withstand extreme depths. I'm sure the MCU isn't planning on using him anytime soon, but I think he might make a nice addition.

Imagine a post-credit sequence in some MCU film in which Stingray is shown exploring the ocean floor, then he looks up and shines a light on Namor standing before him. Cut to black. :)

I think that would be an awesome tease

I hope Aquaman is done before Namor, simply because the later can work in any role, while Aquaman would simply be looked at as a rip-off. There's no talk of Namor for a long time, which is a shame, since i would like to see him in the MCU, i definitelly like the idea of the character invading the surface world with an entire army.

But Aquaman IS a Namor knock off...

I would prefer an aquaman movie to a Namor film. For some reason I don't quite like Namor. I know he's not meant to be likeable but he just doesn't seem very marvellian

I'm still waiting for the original Marvel anti-hero to join to MCU.

Namor is so much more interesting than Aquaman. I hope they get a Namor movie out before Aquaman. To me Aquaman is more recognizable to the GA and I feel like Namor would be seen as the knock-off and not the other way around.

That's simply because Aquaman has had more exposure.
The Sub-Mariner deserves his time in the spotlight.
I hope Marvel greenlights this movie soon.

I would be absolutely floored if Namor were to get greenlit before Aquaman on the big screen.

I hope Aquaman is released before Namor, he's ignored enough and desserves a film that isn't attacked as a rip-off of another. I really want to see a Namor film, but i think Aquaman needs and deserves it more.

Namor rules! Submariner 1, totally located in Atlantis. No surface world, till the end.
Struggle of angry young hybrid king, adjusting to the throne, dealing with his love of Lady Dorma, running the kingdom. The political opposition is fierce, many can't accept the half human king. Attuma leads them to over throw Namor.
Namor's forces win in the end, Lady Dorma and Atlantis are safe. Then the sickness begins. Movie ends.
Submariner 2, Opens, United nation/WSC meeting. Dignitaries discuss problems affecting their countries, enter Namor.
Namor accuses the surface world of atrocities against Atlantis. He presents evidence
to back up his claims. The surface worlds industrial waste is slowly killing his people.
"This, is an act of war!" Then the fun starts.

But why is he more deserving than Namor to be in the big screen first? Because he was in a few crappy 80s cartoons?
I like Arthur too, but DC isn't getting their s**t together fast enough. Why should a Namor movie be held back simply because some want the more popular DC version to come out first?

edit: a version that is a rip-off to begin with, btw

If DC doesn't release Aquaman before then yeah, i blame them for that, i also want to see Namor soon.

Because Aquaman is a founding member of the Justie League, is way more ignored by DC than Namor is, and in my opinion has a better rogues galley

Other posters are more qualified to talk about that, i used to say that too but i remember some posters with very good arguments

Namor was in print in early 1939. Aquaman wasn't created until late 1941.
No argument can get around that.
Also, in the begining, Aquaman wasn't even of Atlantean heritage. He was just the son of a guy who found Atlantis and 'learned' the secret of breathing underwater, which he taught to his son.
From the begining Namor was always a hybrid... It's clear who the rip-off is.

Namor lived in an underwater city but it was only called Atlantis when he returned in the 60s, Aquaman's Atlantis origin was revealed in the 50s.

Either way what do you all think the plot of the movies should be? What about Namor's first arc in the 60s where he had to search for Neptune's tridente to prove his royalty?

I agree with all of this I've never been an Aquafan, but Namor is the more interesting of the two. Heck in JL cartoon Aquaman acted more like Namor to me.

Who cares?
DC and Marvel ripped off each other equally.

Deadpool, Deathstroke

Namor, Aquaman

Doctor Strange, Dr. Fate

Darkseid, Apocalypse/Kang the Conqueror

The Atom (Ray Palmer) and Hank Pym

Robin, Bucky

I'd like to see Namor spun out of a future Avengers film or solo outing. Thor, maybe, there's the similar royal court intrigue.

Namor confirmed to still be at Universal. It's on CBM.

Weird, you'd think it would have reverted by now. And both Feige and Quesada even said a year or two ago that to the best of their knowledge Namor was back at Marvel. They even had an Atlantis easter egg in IM2.

I know he was popular as a Batman candidate, but how would you all feel with Wes Bentley as Namor? I think he'd fit rather well in the role.

As for Aquaman and Namor, yes Namor came first, but I'm a fan of both and want to see each get their time to shine in a live action film.

Well that's a bummer. I didn't expect Namor to be the next film announced or anything like that, but I was still hoping it was somewhere in the long term plans.

Who knows, maybe the rights will get back to marvel before they would have used them anyway...

Well what are Universal going to do with Namor? They gave up the rights to Hulk years ago, who is a far more known and popular character. They can't possibly be trying to get their own Namor movie of the ground. Marvel should get him back.
