Something about him still looks a little too contemporary to me.

This must be the most ridiculous decision in the MCU...and they have plenty.

So....they butcher their own character so they can have a non-white character in a movie about non-white characters.

Un-FREAKING-believable........

To have a character and to change him to fuel the story is a totally disrespect for the character....

This is cool

I hope we get more namor after this. Long standing series, video games. Maybe an animated series?
Hmm - Namor the Sub-Mariner
If Namor can't get his own solo MCU film for legal reasons, Defenders team movie might be the best way to get more Namor beyond BP.

I still hope this MCU Namor can be further developed into his own self titled MCU movie, if they can't (like Hulk), then put them both with Dr. Strange in a classic Defenders Movie franchise. :cwink:

They WILL get a Namor solo film!! This is a little tricky Namor still has some rights left with the estate of the originator!! No other studios have cinematic rights other than marvel Disney!! Disney will cut a check

I believe this when I see it.

Because if Marvel Studios could do it, it would have been made before Eternals, Blade, Shang-Chi, Thunderbolts and Guardians of the GalaXy.

Psylockolossus. The creator of Namor put him n a newspaper for like 10 days b4 going to work for timely so he kept the “ownership” yes Namor also went back and forth to universal and blah blah blah!! I’ve been wanted ng to see this (due to aqua man being out) and that’s what I found!! It is your right to your opinion so… I guess we can agree to disagree I think??

I don't think I want to see Marvel Studios' The Defenders. Just put him in Avengers.

In the new trailer M'Baku tells us that the Atlanteans Tlalocans don't call him "king", but rather consider him to be Kukulkan himself (the Mayan name for Quetzalcoatl). It makes some sense as apparently the feathers and ability to fly of the feathered serpent symbolise its divine nature in Mesoamerican cultures, so they're using that to have Namore be seen as some kind of divine figure among the Tlalocans. So I guess he's not "king Namor".

For all the changes made to make him more culturally more Mayan and Aztec, I'm surprised his merch still has "Imperious Rex" on it, which sounds very much Latin-based.

Namor looks fantastic.
Love they didn't shy away from the wings and flying.

And here's to them being allies against the manipulation of an inevitable common foe, by films end.

Namor, Valkyrie, Strange, and Hulk teammate sounds amazing!
It would be. Unfortunately this classic grouping doesn't appear to be on Feige's radar, despite (almost) all now existing together in the same live action U.

My only complaint is perhaps a selfish or vain one?
I do like his look a lot, more than I thought and the Aztec angle & history they tapped into is fresh & unique.
Better not to copy the Atlantis angle DC went with Aquaman.
The actor , I am sure will do a good job portraying Namor as well.
I, just pictured Namor more physically imposing?
Now, Tenoch Huerta is in very good shape......I just pictured someone like Namor, Marvel's King of the seas more than having a swimmers body (no pun intended) Unless that is what they wanted.
Making him look unassuming or modest?

I think this is exactly the body type Namor has typically been drawn with from all of my experience with the character. Literally the only thing that stands out as very different is the face, since comics Namor traditionally has a patrician/Roman look (often with extra-exaggerated angularity that no living human would ever have). Obviously, that part of the character design went out the window with the switch from Atlantis to Tlalocan.

I mean with A̶t̶l̶a̶n̶t̶i̶s̶/Tlalocan being an underwater race, do they need to be physically imposing looking to have enhanced strength ? doesn't living under the water most your life already enhance your strength, and toughen your skin... just from the pressure and resistance of the water alone every movement they make is like 10X the workout of your average land dweller

but also, realistically living in the cold/depth of the oceans would require you to have a lot of fat tissue to keep warm... so if mermaids/underwater people like this actually existed they'd probably be obese (not the fit / attractive way they are offend represented to be in mythology/ fantasy fiction) lol

so this seems like a good equal medium
