NBC's The New Normal

I have to laugh at RM for bringing in the same guest stars he had on Glee to TNN. Whose next? Ricky Martin?

I'm surprised he doesn't use more of the Popular cast on any of the shows he does.

He probably thinks that most of them aren't familiar to TV audiences. Isn't Mary Cherry on Scandal at the moment tho?

I'm surprised he doesn't use more of the Popular cast on any of the shows he does.

And it is a crime that he doesnt. Leslie Grossman is a no brainer when it comes to shows like Glee and The New Normal. She would fit in perfectly.

And according to her wiki she was in the Pilot of this as ''Melissa." So he has used her on The New Normal.

oh ya she was, but it was no way near long enough.

I just want more Leslie Bibb. :csad:

Remember April Tuna from Popular? And the androgynous teacher Ms. Glass?

YESSSSSSS! He needs to have them show up somewhere. The actress who played Ms. Glass would make for a great Sue rival.

I like this show but its a way too preachy for me. They need to tone that down

I get that the show is supposed to be Murphy's little homage to Norman Lear, but the sooner they drop the preachy and start actually being funny, the better.

Ryan has been all about the preach these last two years. Part of the reason why Glee suffers.

It's a shame too, because he and his writers tend to come up with some pretty funny dialogue/one-liners. If only he would drop (or at least lessen) his tendency to try to shove a social message down the viewer's throat, and come up with some comedic plotlines, I'd be pretty happy.

at least be a bit more subtle about it. He's way too overt with his approach

Ryan Murphy doesn't do subtlety. :hehe:

I hope it's something that, as the season progresses, they kind of push to the side, instead of using every opportunity they can get. I loved the pilot, and I've enjoyed the few episodes after it to varying degrees, but I don't know if I want a whole season/possible series of The Social Message (Half) Hour.

I just saw an ad for the Halloween episode. My first thought was that it didn't look like it would be preachy at all. My second thought, after seeing that Shania was dressing as Honey Boo Boo, was that it's really hard to not hate Ryan Murphy and his love of ****ty, bottom of the barrel pop culture.

Yeeeeeeah.... I think I'm just about done here. Glee has it's faults, but it doesn't preach this hard. The second I saw them all with their phones out at the dinner table, I knew what was coming, and I should've stopped right then and there. It really says something that this show comes on after one about a man dealing with his wife's death, and yet this is by far the preachier (and thus, less funny) of the two. ****, I watch reruns of Little House on the Prairie, and I still don't think I've ever been preached at this hard.

Someone give me a heads up if this drops its current act and starts genuinely being funny.

Judging by the lack of reaction, I'm guessing you're all waaay ahead of me in terms of dropping this ****ing show.

Lol I still watch it though I dont know why. They really relay on PSA of the week for this show. Which is also what has been happening to Glee ever since season 3. Maybe Ali Alder is the problem...

I doubt it's her doing. She wouldn't have been calling the shots on Glee. This stinks of Murphy. He even stated the series was inspired by his love of Norman Lear's shows, where they would push messages and PSAs and ****.

It's awful, though. The whole "Oh the technologies are errrrrverywhere!!!" thing last night was just irritating.

Shannen Doherty is going to guest star, will be interesting to see Shannen under Ryans pen.

Last night's episode was just.... ugh. Putting aside my annoyance with the preachy messages, I'm just amazed that a show that is supposed to be a comedy has so many characters that aren't funny. David's boring. Goldie's boring. Bryan is a weird combination of overly cutesy and sort of smarmy (unsurprising, considering the character is based on Murphy himself). Shania is so precocious it's annoying. Goldie's ex is like an unfunny Andy Dwyer mixed with an even more dull Finn Hudson. Nana is Sue Sylvester with 100% less charm and double the hatefulness. And Rocky... I'm not so sure giving Nene Leakes that much screentime is a good idea (seriously, what the **** was the deal with her playing her mother and her father? This isn't a goddamn Eddie Murphy movie, and she hasn't got the talent for it). The end result is just... not great.

This weeks episode wasn't half bad. Funny how this show immediately gets better when Nana and Rocky are nowhere to be seen. I get that Murphy loves these broads, but enough is enough. One can only barely act and the other is just a **** character.

These last two episodes have been really enjoyable. But I feel like RM is "secretly" using Bryans (really creative btw Ryan, really creative) Sing to lash out at the glee cast. The blonde actress wanting her lines changed since they didnt suit her character is so obviously Dianna.
