Need evidence DC Entertainment is still the same backward company in disguise?

I was just direct messaged from a reporter that the most recent episode of Smallville, entitled "Warrior", was originally pitched to be the live-action debut of Captain Marvel.

DC Entertainment initially said "yes", but then said "no".

Wanna know why? Because they don't like the "Marvel" in "Captain Marvel". Something so small and stupid meant Smallville had to change the episode's plot completely, last minute.

well diz i think it also is sorta like the deal with ww and batman not showing up cause wb wants to do movies/for batman has a good series going with nolan. And for marvel's case there has been the shazam film in the works off and on the past like 3 yrs and all that.

That's not much "evidence".

And, as stated above, due to the fact that Captain Marvel is being developed for a movie, like Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash (notice no Jay Garrick in the Absolute Justice episode), and Green Lantern (notice how they shot around Alan Scott in the Absolute Justice episode), rights to use the character are probably the correct answer.

Was the company even restructured yet into DC Entertainment when this decision was made?

actually jay was mentioned by just name and a photo of him in Absolute justice. But the name flash is still off limits. and from what it looks like the warrior episode for smallville was set in mostly around sept/oct range.

Warrior is set in early 2010, before Valentine's Day, which is when this week's episode is set. (For the record, Saviour was set in September 2009.)

i meant early work on the script not the setting in the episode.

Then you are correct. DCE changed their mind in October, pushing production on the then-newly retitled "Warrior" back to December.

Just for the record, is it not right to take anything written by a guy with less than 30 posts based on things "direct messaged" by "a reporter" with a grain of salt? A large one at that.

Yes, this is rather thin gruel.

And Captain Marvel has already appeared in two live action productions - a film serial in 1941 and a television series which ran from 1974 to 1977 - hence this would not have been his live action debut.

yea and the thing with smallville it has and is always full of restrictions from WB and dc comics. Sure alot of them have been dropped over the yrs but there is still things that they cant do. Sure it sucks but they got to work around it. Heck even the justice league cartoon had restrictions at times like the whole justice guild episode was to be jsa but at the time they couldnt do it.

I could see it in the story but I really hope that they didn't do Billy as being zapped by a comic.
