Neeson takes Taken

i find it amazing how some people are saying that because FOX made a PG13 cut that because of this it made so much money. where is the proof?

to me it looks like that with an R rating the same people would watch it.

In a rare pre-announcement tease, Fox Home Entertainment says it is planning a Spring next-gen release for the surprise blockbuster 'Taken,' and has previewed the Blu-ray's box art.
Though the studio stopped short of issuing an exact street date for the $100 million-plus grossing thriller (which is still in theaters), it's promising a Blu-ray edition rumored for sometime in the month of May , day-and-date with a standard-def DVD.
There are no tech or supplement specs to report, but the studio has revealed a sneak peek at the Blu-ray box art, which promises a 2-disc set and an extended version of the film.

We also don't yet have a suggested list price for the Blu-ray, but the full official announcement is expected in the coming days. Needless to say, watch this space.
In anticipation of a confirmed street date and final details for 'Taken,' we've added a listing for the title in the "Release Dates Pending" section of our Blu-ray Release Schedule. Stay tuned!

Uh oh, Fox found something to milk...

At this rate, I'll just order the Blu-ray from overseas...

You'd lose the biggest audience....the 12-16 range of kids who see the most movies.

And thats why Fox keeps getting Flop's. This was a good R rated movie that they cut into, and it made just a little bit more than the harder cut released everywhere else.

Man this movie was 93 minutes of adrenaline!. The action scenes were great and reminds me of the Bourne trilogy, mostly Bourne Ultimatum. Liam Neeson was always a great actor and we was exceptionally in this. The fight scenes were the best I've seen in a long time, really brutal with close camera shots. The only bad thing about this movie was the way his daughter ran, was she triple jointed or something.

The R rated version made 70 million overseas, that's roughly the same as Rambo and Body of Lies so it's only in the US that these topical action movies dissapoint for some reason. It's not like a group of kids can't get one of their parents to get them the tickets either.

The quick shots and shaky camera make it hard for people to follow but that's not a problem for me, I love it.

Fox Details 'Taken' Blu-ray
Mon Apr 20, 2009 at 01:00 PM ET

Fox has officially announced 'Taken,' which will come to Blu-ray this May in an extended cut version with multiple bonus features and Digital Copy.

As previously reported, Fox dropped only a May window for the Blu-ray release of the surprise Liam Neeson kidnap thriller, but held off on any confirmed street date or specs.

The official announcement is now here, with the $140 million-grossing smash headed to Blu-ray and DVD day-and-date on May 12.

Featuring a new extended cut of the film plus the PG-13-rated theatrical version (accessible via seamless branching), tech specs will see a BD-50 dual-layer disc with 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video and a DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround track.

Extras include the audio commentary (with director Pierre Morel, screenwriter Robert Mark Kamen and cinematographers Michel Abramowicz and Michel Julienne), a pair of featurettes ("Making Of," "Avant Premiere"), a "Black OPS Field Manual" function and "Inside Action" comparisons of six scenes.

Also include on a second disc is a Digital Copy compatible with PCs and iTunes.

Suggested retail price for the Blu-ray has been set at $39.99.

You'll find the latest specs for 'Taken' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule, where it's indexed under May

Is this "extended cut" the unrated cut we've been looking for?

I'm going to say there is a good chance of that being the case.

Definitely looking forward to buying this one, awesome movie!

You'd be surprised. Most of our parents were too busy to take us...so we had to sneak in. IE...not pay for it.

if anyone is looking for a good Fathers Day gift, grab this for Dad!

that's a really good suggestion actually, my dad would probably love a movie like this, and he doesnt really get out to the theatre much.
