I recently got into Evangelion, and i have a question for the movie, should they change the children's age? In the anime they're like 14 years old.

if enders game has actors who are like 14 then why not(even tho they are suppose to be Younger in EG)

Oops, no-one has suggested a cast yet.

(This is just a hypothetical of course before someone starts up about a 100% Asian cast)

Shinji - Jared Gilmore (Once upon a time)

Director - Gotta be Peter Jackson

I'd prefer a Japanese/German cast myself.

Now that godzilla is a success I really want this to happen, hopefully with Peter Jackson still attached to direct.

What do you think? Do you still want to watch it?

Peter Jackson was never attached to direct this, that's just wishful thinking.

I frankly think it's a bad idea, the original anime nailed it perfectly, it would be like them trying to adapt 2001: A Space Odyssey into anime form.

Successful adaptations of anime could grow the genre and reach a broader fanbase as has happened with comic books.

I know, but unlike things like Berserk, Dragon Ball, etc. i don't think there's much a live action adaptation of Evangelion could add, the original was already its oun thing, and you can definitelly not redo much of it due to that. It's one of the reasons why the new movies are staying so far from its source material, like one of the title even says: "You CAN NOT Redo".

Evangelion is like Watchmen, it rewrites the cliches in its medium and has such a tight story that adapting it is near impossible, and if you stay too close, it may end up like Zack Snyder's Watchmen. Sure, it's a treat for certain fans and done with heart, however, you also end up showing a large lack of creativity by pretty much repeating visually what was already done, unlike with adaptations of books where you have the text in common but the story was never done visually.

There was another thread I think that was bumped last month with some details about the latest attempt.

I wonder if Ryan potter from "big hero 6" would make a great shinji ikari?

Do you think the success of shin Godzilla will make this more likely?
