In Nestor's defense he doesn't wear eyeliner, his eyelashes are naturally like that. A girl would kill to have those.

Must have had a tough childhood then.

Not saying they intended this or are going this way, just pointing it out:

Whos city is it to lose that is also in a postion of power?
Who may not like the Mob helping the League orchestrate the destruction?
Who may be paranoid the League infiltrated all levels and may still be there?
Who promoted an uncorrupt cop in league with Batman?
Who may have a plan and resources to give Joker to hoble Mob?
Who benefits keeping Batman around to stop threats to the city such as league?
Who would have been in place or had people in place to ge to comissioner&judge?
Who is mayor and never had real name revealed?
Who is always dressed real nice, has funny eyes and uses a pen rather than umbrella?

It's a stretch, and is not cannon, but could be a reinvent for the times. Yes, I know Nolan said no tot he character. Interesting though.

His name was Mayor Garcia, as is shown on the newspaper Gordon finds in the apartment...

He was wearing thick eye liner yes, but what he did was a good job at the role!

Are you suggesting the Mayor may have been helping the Joker, or that the Mayor might become the Penguin. Would be interesting, if the casting was more appropriate.

One of the biggest surprises was that the Mayor was not corrupt and actually seemed like a decent guy. I was expecting a typical "sleazy politician" role.

LOL. I don't know why, but I had to laugh.

I wonder if he had sisters that would dress him up too.

I dont know if you guys know this or not, but every actor on screen in films today wears some sort of makeup and yes eyeliner to bring out their facial qualities, its just something that they do these days.

Your totally right, I actually liked the guy alot, and was kinda upset when I thought for a moment he had been shot, but I was glad he was one of the few people that lived in this film!

Yeah, about the make-up, I've done some plays and they smother you in the stuff. It was a little distracting and I was wondering what was going on there but he played the part admirably. There wasn't a single weak link in the entire Dark Knight chain.

I did not catch that, oh well.

The lounge Batman abducts Moroni at could still be the Iceberg Lounge that Penguin operates. Batman allows this to operate in the comics as he uses it to frequent for information when needed.

He didn't die because he's friggin immortal.

LOL!

If they ever do Mad Hatter, they should get Michael Emerson. With all of Ben Linus' "Alice in Wonderland" references, there's already a collection.

Also, how cool would it be if he kidnapped Mayor Garcia and kept him in a polar bear cage?

Yeah I know, but in this case his eyes are naturally like that. Exhibits A and B:

He's definitely a good-looking guy. Naturally blessed with awesome eye lashes.

WOW he must naturally have a lot of darkness and shadow on his eye lashes jeesh.

What's the point in discussing whether or not he wears eye liner or not. For the record though, he has black going all the way from edge to edge on his eyes where there are NO eyelashes.

Not like it's a big deal, lots of guys choose to wear make up nowadays.

I thought he was good for the small time he had on screen.

Faithful Lost fans know that this is just the natural way Richard Alpert...err, Nestor Carbonell looks. No mascara needed.

RakuMon, I have actually seen people on other boards discussing how great a Riddler Michael Emerson would make. All I can say is, Michael Emerson in a Nolan-directed Batman film would be pure heaven to me!

All I could think when the Mayor was onscreen was, "So Gotham's on the Island, huh? Well, that sure explains some things!" And I was wondering if the Joker was really working alone or if he perhaps had some help from Ben. :woot:

Nestor was really good in a small role IMHO. He's also good in Lost. He does "serious" well.

So, his casting was also some kind of inside joke for those familiar with the Tick? Batmanuel is the mayor of Gotham? I wasn't aware of the Tick, but a quick google sorted it out...

As someone said, the mayor roles in this kind of films are usually anglosaxon grey-haired old guys, I loved to see a young-looking latino. He looked like he was ready to join the action himself, and yeah, many said "is he wearing eyeliner"? :)

It was nice to see that Richard leaves the island every now and then. And to think he has such an important job off the island.

So that's where Richard was for most of the fourth season. I fully expect him to have a flashback this next season, explaining his time in Gotham city and what his mission was there for the Island. Or perhaps his time in Gotham was a flashforward?? :wow:

I thought he was wearing eye-liner.

I guess he was just genetically blessed as such.

What?

"Not like it's a big deal; Lot's of guys choose to wear make-up nowadays..."

whats confusing about that?

Why a man would do that outside of filming and outdated cultural norms of males wearing wigs and powder makeup.
