In the same vein as Gotham and "the narrows"... In BB, does Gordon live in The Narrows? I seem to remember his balcony-type-thingy resembling those in the picture above... but I wasn't sure...

Probably not. And plus, it's not something that needed to be specified in the first place.

something about wayne tower reminds me of the Wayne building in BF.

(by the way, we’ve got it on good authority that a new 'Joker'-heavy trailer will be out in December - attached to "I am Legend" but possibly only in IMAX)
Seeing the first official Joker reveal in IMAX? It'll definitely be worth the ticket price. I'm there!

I don't think he did. I think he it's just that his back door opened into an alley. Well, like a "courtyard" for lack of a better term, that all of the surrounding houses back door's also open to. It seemed like a slightly nicer area than the Narrows, but still Gotham City...so not great.

It's an actual building in Chicago, they just added the "Wayne Towers" symbol in during post production. Like much of the Gotham in Batman Begins, it was just an extended version of Chi-town. So if it is similar to a building in BF, they may have used reference to the Chicago building.

Anyway, this news has me interested. I'm looking forward to what has changed about Gotham in TDK.

wait, what has anyone said about that anything will be "changed"?

as for that BF building, it did actually look alot like chicago,, sans the man statues everywhere. even had that "brownish" effect. its in the scene right after the helicopter crashes in lady "gotham", lol.

Ok, I just wondered... thought it was kind of important if this "low income" cop was forced to live in the narrows... in the beating heart of Gotham's crime district. Would also say something about his character if he were to come from that beginning.... and end up as commisioner.

Sydney has the largest IMAX screen in the world.

Gotham City is gonna look goooood

Good old chicago board of trade, definetely went there and participated during my senior year in college.

I could honestly care less if the city is changed I mean it looked fine, it'd be nice to see it look a little more unique but it's not that important to the overall film - there are better places to focus their efforts and budget like the actining, story, etc.

There are better places to spend the budget... but setting means alot, especially in Batman. If played right, Gotham can, at times, be a character of its own.

Very good point, but the city itself doesn't seem to be a primary victim of critics or fan boys (referring to BB)... but I do still accept your point.

And the city did already have a distinct feel that seperate the different areas, it made it very alive...

Yeah, there's definitely not much need for "improvement" as far as Gotham goes... I just don't want to see it slighted or ignored by the production.

I honestly don't think there will be too much change to the city. I just believe he means it will be different views. Because with BB we got a lot of bird-eye views, and just with in the city/monorail views. I kinda think that he means we will just see more of Gotham. Not that it will be any different, just looking different from different points of view. LOL if that made any sense.

But thats what I think. It's tricky to listen to these early interviews, so many things could mean multiple other things but oh well. Either way it will be interesting to see Gotham.

I agree as well on the latter.

Did you ever attend filming on one of the sets?

Gotham was one of the few bones I had to pick with BB. While I loved certain aspects of it, I still felt it wasn't quite the Gotham I knew and loved. That said, I think a lot of that was with the Sepia tone of the film, and that if Nolan sticks with a blue or green tone for TDK, that the true Gotham will be brought forward.

the skyline of Gotham in BB wasnt Gotham like in the comics. It was a skyline of Chicago.

I quite like Gotham in BB, but I wouldn't mind it looking a bit more unique. It had that generic big-city look to it. I mean, it is called Gotham

I've got no problem with Gotham in BB. For years the city was NY filtered thru comic book sensibilities but I like the city having it's own look now. Maybe it's because I've never been to Chicago but I like it as it is. But I totally get what you people from Chicago are saying, like when they filmed NY for Metropolis in Donner's Superman.

Yeah, i mean, in Superman, you could clearly see it was NY. In BB, it was clearly Chicago. A little Digital manipulation to the skyline would go a long way.

Yeah, but Nolan just has to add a few CG spires and statues on rooftops, thats all. I hope he does.

I like the fact that the monorail is coming back. Shows they want visual continuity. Even if Rachel has changed bodies.

Gotham was a nickname for New York, not because of its Gothic architecture or origins.

I don't think they need to change Gotham, maybe just show it slightly differently. Just pick the right skylines to shoot and make them look a bit more busier in the detail area.

i think the one thing that the Gotham in 'Begins' lacked was the feeling of congestion. Not to say it was small..it was huge.

But there's not a long of scenes where you can see road traffic, nor foot traffic (besides the Narrows). Even the car chase with the Tumbler had fairly empty streets and no pedestrians.
