Fantasy Netflix's The Witcher - General Discussion Thread

They were paying him a lot for the show

$8M for Season 2 and/or 3 ($1M per episode)

By cutting the amount of money they have to pay him that helps the show in its budget but is mitigated by whatever disenchantment in the audience is out there in terms of declining viewership if no Cavill.

Utter horse manure. I'm done with this show. What a joke. I like Cavill and all, but this is one reason why I was initially hesitant about him being cast in the role. He's really a film actor at the end of the day.

Also Liam Hemsworth as his replacement? No offense to Hemsworth, but that's also garbage.

Lastly, they should've cast Zach McGowan from the beginning.

I blame Lauren Hissrich. Show went over a cliff in Season 2. Utter tripe. Done with Netflix for good. It was all there for them. Unlike with Game of Thrones, all the books were done.

You and I have been on that Zach McGowan train for a few years now, please don't get me to go down that rabbit hole again lol

He's a charisma vacuum.
So is Cavill. It's actually one of the reasons he worked as Geralt. That said, Liam can't act, at all. So this is going to be fun. I am sure the defenses of this show, it's butchering of the source material, and just all around bad writing will still be defended as ardently now that Cavill is gone. :o

At least with Cavill there were moments where he embodied Geralt...there's nothing in Liams resume that suggests he could play a likeable mood vampire lol

This is gonna be rough.

It was already rough for me. I think I'm just going to enjoy people seeing the show for what it is at this point.

Is it a Superman movie or BvS round 2 where the B stand for 'Black Adam'.
Honestly, that is what I expect it to be. BA numbers are bad. But they will try to appease the Rock, so they will fast track his "already written" Black Adam sequel. And then when that comes in a couple of hundred million above Black Adam, they will cancel MOS 2, again.
