Of course not.I dont.
The second book starts with a very nice introductory story. Geralt is hired to deal with a striga. It has everything to introduce the world and the protagonist. Some people speculate, based on Renfri casting, I believe, that the first episode will be based on The Lesser Evil, where Geralt reaches Blaviken with a kikimora carcass in tow. There are no beasts. But he earns his infamous title there. I doubt they will start with the golden dragon story, like The Sword of Destiny book.Wonder which monsters they'll go for. I'd expect one quite early to help set the scene.
A striga would be a great way to start and set the tone. Is this going to have an R rating? The second book starts with a very nice introductory story. Geralt is hired to deal with a striga. I don't know for sure, but I can't imagine it not being R-rated. I think Recapped "confirmed" a nudity scene involving Renfri. And even outside of that The Witcher is full of heavy subjects.A striga would be a great way to start and set the tone. Is this going to have an R rating?
Would only really make sense if it did but I didn't know if it had been previously confirmed. Just thinking of a Striga scene made me think it would have to be R to do that justice. Also Game of Thrones deals with plenty of heavy subjects and still manages to be a super-popular show so I see no reason for them not to.I don't know for sure, but I can't imagine it not being R-rated. Sounds good. Also I hope they are playing the long game here, so no reason to skip stuff. If it catches on they could have something that lasts for many years allowing for (and requiring) a lot of material.I cant imagine why this would be toned down.
As fo Triss, she is mentioned in the first two books when talking about the Battle of Sodden but if they are skipping some stories, which would be a huge mistake because I think the short stories are amazing and a great introduction into the world of The Witcher, they could do some of "Blood of Elves" in the first season.
Yeah, TV series viewership is much less dependent on age restriction. It's probably quite opposite when it comes to adult shows.Would only really make sense if it did but I didn't know if it had been previously confirmed. Seems that way. Any idea why?Yeah, TV series viewership is much less dependent on age restriction. It's probably quite opposite when it comes to adult shows.
Ugh, it's a complex topic. Probably worth a separate discussion.Seems that way. Any idea why?
The Striga would be the perfect story to start the show with. They'd be wise to lead with the short stories, they'd work incredibly well for a tv series format and do a great job slowly introducing you to the world before Geralt takes Ciri under his wing and the overarching story takes over. The second book starts with a very nice introductory story. Ah gotya, no probs. A discussion for another day then.Ugh, it's a complex topic. Probably worth a separate discussion.
This sounds like the best way to approach it.The Striga would be the perfect story to start the show with. Toxic masculinity and Geralt being Yennefer's dog don't compute. Witcher is packed with strong-minded and aggressive wahmen. Plus it's run by a female...That means we're going to have lots of articles about consent, toxic masculinity, #MeToo, and all that once Witcher TV comes around. Buckle up everyone![]()
Gotta admit that erotic material in GoT is repulsing or cringy 99% of the time. It's not easy to do it right. I seriously hope The Witcher manages. As someone who is not at all ashamed of the "SJW" label, my issue with GOT at times is less the content and more the execution. So if this show can avoîd that as much as possible, then it's all good imo.
So many strong female characters for this show to take advantage of.Yeah Yennifer, Triss, and Ciri are only the beginning of the badassery really.
