Fantasy Netflix's The Witcher - General Discussion Thread

From my experience, ingrained old notions and habits going back centuries or more (often with a religious bent). I mean it many parts of Europe it seems to be reversed from what I've seen. It's violence that they get iffy about.

Toxic masculinity and Geralt being Yennefer's dog don't compute. Witcher is packed with strong-minded and aggressive wahmen. Plus it's run by a female...Gotta admit that erotic material in GoT is repulsing or cringy 99% of the time. It's not easy to do it right. I seriously hope The Witcher manages.

They will write about it one way or the other. It was a thing during the height of Witcher 3's popularity as well. They could also write about how it subverts all those things, which will be equally annoying.

We probably shouldn't bother. Worrying if they're going to write anything is just adding fuel to the outrage culture.

I'm essentially hearing it from you that TW3 received crap for toxic masculinity. The only stuff I heard when I played (and replayed over and over again) was either how awesome the game is or how someone is sad that he doesn't have enough time to play it.

It was a minority of idiots for sure, but the problem with the internet is that it makes the minority of idiots vocal and loud.

But you are correct, it is better not to worry about such things.

Love this.

Damn, I listen to folk metal too much lately in anticipation.

This one definitely works for me. It looks like Cavill and looks like a Witcher.

According to Variety, Cavill will get $400k per episode.

Recapped says Natasha Culzac is Toruviel.

Reminded me of Legolas, but I know nothing about The Witcher franchise, so maybe I'm wrong on that one just going for that easy comparison.

Wig is too obvious, hair is too long, outfit is crap. Cavill also looks like he's about to laugh.

Thats pretty much exactly how he is described in the books. Except that cavill is clasically handsome.

Should have tied it up, or went with his Qui-Gon look. Otherwise, looks good.

I'm sorry, but that looks like a Halloween costume...
Exactly. Looks really bad. It's good for Halloween, though.

I think I saw more interesting costumes in Hercules: The Legendary Journeys.
