Fantasy Netflix's The Witcher - General Discussion Thread

Wild Hunt designs:

Too bad they drowned them in garish orange and dust so we couldn't see them. And IDK why they covered all of their faces except Eredin's. Viewers should have been left guessing what these things are underneath that armor. Whether they are specters, humans, elves, monsters etc.

Those designs are sick. I have to watch it again to see how close they are to the what appeared onscreen because you couldn’t see them very well.

Eredins one was really a glaring problem, should have covered his face fully.
But other than that, i didnt had a problem with their design...its cool.

Yeah really like these designs, Eriden aside, but perhaps they can do a CDPR as well and change his helmet before the next time we see them.

The rest though are suitably nightmarish and gothic, particularly liking the look of the female one in the first set of pics and the one with three skull faces in the second.

Hoping for an epic showdown between them and Geralt/Ciri and whomever else at some point in the future. :mrk:

It's funny how much of the "look" from the games the show is taking.

Eh in some places yes, in others no. In this case, the biggest similarity is the skeletal and bone motif. Ribcage plate armor.

We're all just assuming that's supposed to be Eredin with the hand helmet. But here's game Eredin.

The guy with the staff does look more like Caranthir from the game:

If the guy with the open helmet is Eredin, I can understand the logic of showing his face. While it would be more terrifying if you couldn’t see any of their faces, allowing at least the actor playing the leader of the group to be seen makes it easier for him to fully flesh out a character. I know in this post Star Wars world, everyone wants the big bad to have a helmet covering their whole face but creating a menacing, interesting villain whose face you never see is a tall order. Not saying they absolutely needed to go the easy route but I’ve seen plenty of faceless “big bad” villains who tried to be the next Darth Vader or Sauron and they just came off generic. Seeing his face gives him kind of a Cenobite feel, which is cool IMO.

Playing Thronebreaker and seriously can't believe how awful the Netflix adaptation is... When you can squeeze so much out of a character from the books, invent new likable supporting characters... And make it all feel organic and natural to the lore.

I also can't believe people praise Cavill in the role. Maybe he's invested in the role, but he does a terrible job. He's even worse than Superman, because his acting consists of two expressions:

So S3 will cover the second half of Time of Contempt. The last season adapted parts of that book.

I'm very mixed on the show right now. S2 left me feeling rather cold. Practically committing character assassination on Yennefer really angered me.

How far out would we expect season 3 to be?

December is the earliest I would expect it.
Nice, I was expecting even the earliest possible date to be further out. Do you know the gap between season 1 and 2 releasing?

2 years, but covid happened during season 2's production.

lol that plot summary. Replace Aretuza with Kaer Morhen and it’s the initial situation for season 2…

I'm really hoping for the best for Robbie Amell. I like the guy and he was one of the better parts of Welcome to Raccoon City, but the writing in that movie did him no favors.

The guy can be charismatic asf if you've seen The Babysittter movies.

Meh. I’ve never found Amell particularly engaging. Hopefully he is here, but I never have high hopes when I hear he’s been cast in something.

Meng’er Zhang though is a great addition.
