New Avengers Thoughts/Info?

Shut up, you have no taste. New Avengers is God's gift to literate people.

then God doesnt like us....he gave us an ashtray

But it's a clay ashtray that he made in class. It's heartfelt. We should rejoice and start giving ourselves cancer so that we might enjoy it.

Well the sales don't lie.......okay maybe they do sometimes, but not in this case.

Take a good look around Rell, these angry and embittered comments are from the more traditionalist Avengers fans that never wanted the dream to end, but it did via Disassembled. Add onto that fact that Bendis is writing it and is either the most loved or most hated guy in comics according to the source and the fact that they have heavy hitter Wolverine, of whom I know you're a fan, on the team and you get alot of negativity.

As to good or bad, Elijya did a little survey on this Forum to see who was getting what titles and New Avengers got the 4th most amount of votes out of like, 20, which reflects in the real world with the New Avengers sales numbers. It certainly has it's appeal, but you're not likely to hear that from too many people here (aside from Jewish H, Mardachamp, ect.). So as usual, I hope to give you the other side of the coin that's NOT facing the dark side of the moon.

The team follows the original Avengers formula of having the biggest names in the MU on the roster, with an oddball here or there. This book to me, is highly entertaining with alot of laughs, good arcs that gradually move the team from several heroes doing their own thing in the same place, to a more well oiled machine worthy of the name 'team'. Bendis takes his own spin on all the characters and Spider Man's habit of wise cracking hasn't slowed at all, he is however treated like the Freshman in High School, but he doesn't take it lying down of course (he tossed Wolverine out of a 30 story window for joking about MJ).

Before Civil War, you had the classic Cap and Iron Man that are more or less just as you remember them, Sentry for the all time powerhouse that's usually introspective because of his inner demons. Spider Man, Wolverine, and Cage are ALL comedy, always taking shots at one another. And Spider Woman's your Black Widow of the group, double crossing, ect.

All in all, I'd suggest you take a swipe at one of the issues before Civil War, and if it strikes your fancy, read the back issues and see what happens after CW is over. If not, you'll be in good company.

the Sentry story arc is a good one to pick up, probably the best story arc of New Avengers.

As usual, if youre interested check it out.

I bet there gonna go with a more classic line-up after Civil War is over with, and it seems as if there will be 2 groups of Avengers after Civil War.

No, it's clay. I've seen it.

That's because the star of that story was... Emma Frost, who isn't even on the New Avengers. Way to go, Bendis.

Oh sure, there's a psychic on the Avengers squad?:o :down

No, she's on the X-Men. Not the Avengers.

You're getting better everyday, that was almost sarcastic gold but it fell short that last stretch, more like simplistic piss. But don't worry, you'll get the hang of it.

Luke Cage is basically the insert pro black showing how the man brings black people down type, which seems overplayed anymore (I wish he'd just get over it and focus more on his family or something, though that sit in was pure awesome)

 You're joking right? What has Cage done in the series that would make you draw that "conclusion"?

What sarcasm? I was being serious. Emma Frost is on the X-Men, not the Avengers.

Nothing. Luke is being the same Luke he always has, I just chose to ignore that little slice of recycled ignorance.:o

*Rubs forehead*

The point made was that the Avengers don't have a psychic, which means they couldn't do a damn thing about Reynolds, therefore they had to reach outside the team.

They seem to do that a lot. *cough*Ms.Marvel*cough*

The Leaguer said:
Yes, they reached for Emma Frost, who is on the X-Men.

Why is it you seem stuck on the rudimentary point that Emma's on the X-Men? If it's to further prove your point about them using other heroes in their arcs, they had no other option in this case since there's no one that could get in Sentry's head on the Avengers roster.

Which brings us right back to my original statement.:O

My point was that the star, and in fact hero, of the story was Emma Frost, whom wasn't even on the Avenger.

Because she is on the X-Men. Jeez, get that through your head.

[Ignored]Because she is on the X-Men. Jeez, get that through your head.

She was hardly the star, she was a plot device. The star, meaning the person that powered the entire arc and proved to be the mover and shaker is Sentry, Emma came along at the end and could only do as much as Sentry allowed her.

Those rose colored glasses must be addicitive.:down

She was the hero. She saved the day. She had, like, twice as many lines as anyone else in the book.

And Frost doesn't wear the red glasses, it's Cyclops, because he can't control his optic blasts. He is also on the X-Men.
