Shrek 3 looks meh, plus it goes up agianst POTC3 and Spidy 3. It will probably finish 4th.
I think it will probably finish higher than that....I thought the last shrek was meh...but look how that turn out it outgrossed spider-man....i'm never underestimating that movie again....

It looks like Bay is becoming the next Ratner with talking out of his ass & stuff
hehhehe

he should be just quiet. because everything can happen.

my prediction...

1 - POTC3
2 - Spider-Man 3 (i think general audience is getting tired of superheroes)
3 - Harry Potter
4 - Transformers

but all 4 will be getting my money.

if pirates beats spider-man i'm going on a killing spree.

Both those guys- in the $1 billion stratosphere- it doesn't much matter at that point. They both deserve it too IMO (both have been brilliant sets of movies IMHO). I think Pirates has the upper hand because of the cliffhanger and it's been a few years since Spidey... and the general public may have sorta lost interest (or not).

It'll be interesting to see if Bay can reach anywhere near those levels. His glory 1990's days are way behind him---- different times.

Don't you love how every movie goer now is a fast-talking agent who cares about box office figures? What portion of that do they get to see? Just enjoy the movies that come out, guys. I for one will be seeing Transformers, Die Hard, Spider-man 3, and anything else that the summer has to offer.

Its part of movie discussion...what the hell else are we supposed to discuss? The weather?

I think Bay may be in for a surprise. He's not giving movie audiences (casual audiences especially) enough credit. Word of mouth can hurt a film in a hurry. If word gets out that Tfs is just another typical Bay film ("Was it good? It was alright. It was done buy the guy that did that movie The Island from last year. Oh, ok. Nah, I think I'll just wait for the DVD/Cable/Satellite.") it may not do the huge numbers Paramount is hoping for.

On the other hand, if they are just looking for a quick cash in.......they'll probably succeed.

I think that's exactly it. I mean, Michael Bay owns a whole movie company dedicated to the "Quick Cash-in." They're the ones who have been churning out a whole slew of classic horror remakes like Texas Chainsaw, Amityville Horror, and THE HITCHER (a movie that does NOT in any way whatsoever need to be remade) and now even the original Friday the 13th is in production (I mean, WTF!)

None of those remakes are particularly good (tho whatchable) and none are "big" box office successes.... but they make a profit. And, that's what it's all about. F* the art.

Is there any truth to this?

If so, bad move by Bay. But I'd like to see the original statement. :)

I know, but i just hated Pirates 2 so much, and then afterward the girl i was with just kept going on and on about it and i was just like "seriously?"
i hate the fact that something so...meh, is so incredibly popular.

and i heart spidey.

why do people insist on trying to pass their opinions off as facts?

Actually the action looked more realistic than anything in Bad Boys 2:o

Which is fact means the majority of people who like it are larger than the people who dislike it.

Which means

end conversation

you're right...i read it wrong. in my head it sounded like you were trying to pass your opinion (Pirates is so 'meh') off as fact...my fault.

Who gives a damn about Die Hard 4 vs. TF?

They're both gonna be effin' awesome!!!

The tagline for both movies should be:

This Independence Day, prepare for the biggest Geekasm you've ever experienced.

no problem, i see how it would look that way. i know people really enjoyed DMC, but it just didn't strike me at all

Uh-huh. Bay and Ratner are the types of directors studios love the most. There's no guess work, minimum risk, they know what they're going to get and they can pretty much put the money in the bank without looking at the receipts.

Jackson and others are the ones studios take risks on because the gains will outstrip the risks.....Spielberg used to be in that category during his glory days.

Is it me or has he fallen off somewhat after he went into business with SKG?

I loved The Island. I thought it was a solid action flick.
