Look at the burning fire on the Abomination in "The Good" TV clip. They are in the exact same location as his exposed bones in later shots! It's on his chest, his spine......Are the bones exposed because that's where the skin was burned away?

Can it be the Abomination starts off looking a bit more normal....then gets all gross and crusty as a result of the fire?

No, i dont think fire can really hurt him....

NORMAL fire can't hurt the COMIC Abom....but this is a new movie with new ideas....and they've always been about explaining the Aboms look "rationally." Sounds like a pretty good rationale explanation to me.

Look at how the fire burns away on the chest to the EXACT spot where the ribcage is revealed. I think his original transformation distorts the bones and spine then the fire burns it away to give him a more monstrous look. And is it a coicindence that the flames are lapping away at his back? At his pelvis? The EXACT locations the bones are exposed?

If it was one place...sure...I'd say it was coincidence. But every damn place?

I'd bet anything on this. I'm very familiar with the designers work (Neville Page) and he always designs his creatures with a grounding in realism.

No the bones have already been explained various interviews, it's to do with where Blonsky gets injected.

The bones STRETCHING and growing abnormally larger as opposed to the rest of his body are accounted for those interviews.....not the exposed bone itself.

Makes sense...the point of injection of the serum makes the bones grow larger...the fire does the rest of the job and burns the skin away. The burns cauterize the area so no new growth can take place.

Yeah, yeah...I know the healing factor in the comic accounts for burns....but this is not the comic. This sounds like just the sort of logic the filmmakers would use...very in line with "I just can't see why the Abomination would have scales and fish ears."

Their current track records supports this. Until someone can show me a shot of Abom before this scene takes place....with exposed bones.....I'm gonna stick to this theory.

I can't see it myself, fire burning off his skin when it's resistant to alot more, just doesn't add up to me.

Oh I agree there's flaws in the logic...but since when have filmmakers ever stayed true to the detail we nerds value?

All I need to see is a shot of the Abom before the scene we've been seeing....then I'll believe I'm off base.

Bigger shot.

All I think happens in this scene is Hulk throws something at Abomb, Abomb just stands there and takes it, with the flames rippling around him.

Is that your argument? "Just no?" The flames being in the exact same locations as the exposed bone is pure coincidence?

We shall see.

Yeah, considering that the bones are already exposed befor the flames and that the bones have been explained and that your idea isn't consistant with the script. So, no.

And how do you know the bones are exposed before the flames? Are you saying every shot in the trailer is sequential?

So, yes.

(Well, at least...So, maybe. Again, we shall see.)

No, I never said that. But it can easily be worked out what order they come in. Anyway, read the script. You're wrong.

Do you have any clue as to what an arrogant know-it-all you're coming across as? The slightest?

You read the freakin SCRIPT???? Enjoy the movie I guess....nothing that you know how everything will play out. I like some spoilers, but not to the extent that it gives everything away.

And I may BE wrong...but at least I'm not the kind of guy who gets his jollies from telling them such. At least not in the tactless way you do anyhow.

Who's getting "jollies"? I'm just informing you.

You asked: "Can it be the Abomination starts off looking a bit more normal....then gets all gross and crusty as a result of the fire?"

And I answered no.

All right...if you're claiming nothing rude was intended...then my bad.

Yeah, but if you watch the tv spot, Abomination isnt reacting to the flames at all, as if they dont hurt him. he isnt even paying attention to it. I mean, if bullets and bombs cant stop these creatures, how can fire?

What if they freeze him with Nitro and then Hulk smashes him? It's still an element...

hulk and abomy can widthstand the most exterme of tempurature i dont thing you could freeze or burn hulk or abomy.
they both have the most extreme adaption abilities, hulk had all of his skin burnt off and grew it back, he learned to breathe in space and under water, and he's survived extereme freezing temps as well.

I dont think the flames are burning the skin off Abomination. If you watch the tv spots closely you see that flame shot comes after the Hulk has arrived, and Abom seems to have been running around bones exposed and smashing stuff up before that.

My guess is after the shots where the Hulk roars and Abomination turns to face him, Hulk throws a car (or something) at him that explodes, leaves Abom unharmed and we get the 'Come On!!" taunt, followed by the stampede.

How could he breathe in space?

Afaik, he cant, even after the Peter David 'spontaneous evolution' ret-con*. But he can hold his breath a very long time...:cwink:

*According to the recent ret-con (and this is not one I like, personally) the Hulk 'evolves' on the fly to suit his environment. So if he is underwater long enough he will evolve lungs capable of taking in oxygen from the water and so on.
In space there is obviously no air so this sort of thing is not an option. I guess the best explanation is to say his metabolism 'evolves' so it can maintain itself much more efficiently on what oxygen was stored when he was last in air. In this manner he could stay in space for a longer amount of time, but indefinitely surviving space would (or should) still be out of bounds.

One thing to remember for those who have read the script:

He catches an RPG and smashes it over his head.

It's very possible that the flames are just clinging to him.
