Highlights:

~ There will be a New New Warriors popping up in the future, with Speedball as the one lone returning member surrounded by fresh faces(guesses include Gravity, Arana, and the new Scorpion), but Jubilee will be on an entirely different and surprising team.

~ Joe addresses several points that came up out of the latest Civil War issue, including the Anti side not showing much in proving how wrong the Registration is, and how Joss Whedon helped them solidify the conclusion.

~ The latest hint on who will be the "all new Iron Man" is that he will have "big spider legs".

~ Mark Millar's new 36 issue series won't take 3 years to come out, but won't be weekly, and it could be done in some new scheduling way that originally had the editors none to happy.

~ Joe addresses being named "Man of the Year" by Wizard, including how he feels that he doesn't really deserve it.

~ Joe talks about the new Spider-Man 3 trailer and says that they won't be retconning any of the comics to fit with the movie.

~ They're still keeping in mind the weird voice that said "It's time" to Apocalypse in his last X-Men appearence, but we might not find out what it means for awhile.

~ Creator updates: Waiting for Orson Scott Card to finish up Ultimate Iron Man 2 before releasing it, Michael Gaydos is in discussions to return to Marvel, and with Cheung and Heinberg very busy with other projects, New Avengers: Illuminati and Grey's Anatomy respectively, there's no time frame yet for the return of the Young Avengers.

Huh

Some comments of my own:

- I knew CIVIL WAR was good for something, although I don't know why Speedball has to be the only "original" member to rejoin the team? Justice & Rage are still around, Nova can't stay in space forever, plus they could try to convice Firestar to return, and Ultra Girl is just waiting for stardom. But, considering Marvel has some new young heroes like Arana, Gravity & Scorpion II, I guess I can understand wanting to use them. Why not a mix of both? Plus, knocks on CW aside, there's no way you'd be seeing a relaunch of NW that actually has a chance in hell of succeeding had CW not happened. Just a shame it took killing off two of their founders to do it.

It also confirms that Speedball survives his shooting in FRONTLINE, btw. I mean, considering Frontline is supposed to be big, maybe that was unwise, y'know, killing a major cliffhanger from last issue? Oh, well.

Bonus points if Machine Teen joins the team, too. Can't have too many andriods in the MU. Last time he did anything, it was in HOM.

Even more if this is the book Slott is on.

- That cover to THE LONERS looks...iffy. The sketches from the artist looked fine, but maybe it's the colors or inks, it just looks a little rough. Not bad, mind you. Just...rough.

- Joe Q still doesn't seem to get it about the SHRA side. YOU CANNOT ROOT FOR PEOPLE WHO HIRE VICIOUS KILLERS AS THEIR FOOTSOLDIERS! Plus, we're not saying that stuff isn't being "built up", we're questioning whether it's worth it. Frankly, considering Reed was going to be pro SHRA and he was going to be just as overreactive as Stark, they could have simply embellished the link between he and Parker rather than invent the relationship with Stark, therefore making it feel off when Peter was his man-slave for half a year. It just seems like another example of Marvel doing things the hard way. And "Whedon helped us on the ending" doesn't sell me. A good ending will sell me. So let's wait for it.

Apparently, CW provided a good reason to get superheroes to punch each other out again. Like they ever needed much reason. "Hey, I don't know you, and you're in red, white, and blue, colors no villian actually wears. You must be bad! I punch you now!"

- I'm glad someone brought up the adverts issue, because it proves once again that Joe Q's word is worth crap. A year ago he said that the advert issue would never happen again, and now he is saying, "oh, it's an unavoidable reality these few months because we like money". This is the same company that will delay books for months in the name of "quality", yet they hardly seem to care about "quality" when Honda hands them a check, huh? Joe Q is aware of this new thing called "file sharing", yes? It's not popular now, but the more unreadable the monthlies get, the more appealing any alternative gets.

And I love the pathetic examples he uses to try to claim that they "offset" the adverts in some other books. No ads in the MARVEL HANDBOOK? Congrats, you simply proved you're not a greedy Scrooge; handbooks have NEVER had ads, so we should lick your arse for just sticking to what's been done for 15 years? No ads in MARVEL SPOTLIGHT? Dude, are you aware that Marvel Spotlight is ITSELF an advertisement for whatever event/writer/artist devoted to it, and at $2.99 for what amounts to an interview and some sketches is an overpriced cash grab on a few desperate fans to begin with? Thank you for not having an ad within an ad, Joe! My god, man, he sets the bar so bloody low and then expects a friggin' parade for meeting it. He reminds me of those kids in Special Ed who expect a diploma for not throwing their desk out a window one day or something.

But the advert thing proves that the story Joe gives one year can change for the next. He only gets "honest" not at the beginning, but when an issue becomes unavoidable and caves in on him. Like how Marvel will remain in delusional optimism about a book's sale date until it reaches a month late and then they'll go, "whoops, here's something realistic" and so on.

- So, one person actually asked for MORE Card/Ultimate Iron Man. I guess there are gluttons for punishment out there.

But, for this title, Joe proposes a novel approach; waiting for the writer to finish it before publishing. Will they apply this common sense to other writers? I think...no. Especially since artist issues can easily cause delays independant of a writer. How about offering artists a bonus for NOT drawing a cover for some other title if they have interiors they're late on? Huh? Nothing like seeing Cassaday do a cover for HUNTER/KILLER while ASTONISHING was a month late, or Cheung being late on YA but finding time for a random WIZARD cover.

- Why is Joe surprised that Wizard would name him MAN OF THE YEAR? Despite increased DC focus during IC, Wizard is hardly "equal" with the big two and likely leads 55-45 towards Marvel, at least. At least he gives props to some editors. That's big of him.

- Cheung's ILLUMINITAI looks pretty.

Dread.... you are definitely the Jello Biafra of the Marvel comics world. :word:  :word:

You complain.... because you care. :yay:

I like it.

The situation with Young Avengers is just getting ridiculous. Find somebody else to write it.

Heh. Wizard named Quesada man of the year. Yeah, they're not up his ass or anything. :oldrazz:

This was a Joe Saturday technically.

I bet we won't see Young Avengers 2 until late next year.As long as Heinberg is writing it,I don't care how long we have to wait.

Don't worry, that cover is not by the same person who is doing the interiors, I believe. Even if it is, they're definitely not the same style. I think it's supposed to be evocative of the Breakfast Club.

*sigh* Young Avengers is never coming back, is it? And I'm sorry, but I'm one of those people who can't handle the wait. I waited for Astonishing X-men season two to come out, same thing with she-hulk. I waited for the last few issues of YA to come out, and it was just too much. Hopefully, the YA will pop up in other booksto pass the time. *sigh*

Also, for some reason, It seems that hulk is pisssed...

Awesome, added to pull list first thing tomorrow morning :word:

I know it's probably a cover/promotional immage but i'm really hoping they keep the runaways style of art for this series. So excited about this one!

Who's the blonde and the dude in the leisure suit?

I dont mind teen superhero books but when you have as many as Marvel has they become irrelevant...just like the three X-men books(really whats the purpose of them all other than three books for Marvel to make money off)
So right now there is Young Avengers, Runaways, New Xmen, The Loners and the New New Warriors book
