New Joe Fridays: Week 20

I hope this whole Thunderbolts thing helps make Osborn a good villain again

Marvel should have him make a run for Kingpin:o

and then have himbe responsible for every crappy thing that happened to Spider-man from JMS writing his book to JQ being the EIC...Hmmmmmm

I don't know how to describe my love for these pics. Gerald Perel will no doubt give new meaning to the word "awesome".

Don't worry, it won't be for long.

And then look at Yu's pencils. Just what I love to see when I open an Avengers comic. Ninjas. Because surely they're a challenge to the Avengers. Y'know, they're so good that Daredevil, Wolverine, Jubilee, Spider-Man, Capt. America, Howard the Duck, Willie Lumpkin, haven't all beaten hordes of ninjas solo endlessly, and that ninjas are barely a step above "random goons with their belly-buttons showing" on the totem pole. Surely there aren't any actual supervillians to throw at the Avengers.

Can you cut my sarcasm with a knife yet?

Yeah, but these are super ninjas, ones with throwing stars that can somehow disable Iron Man's veritable Swiss Army armor. :whatever:
I feel stupid for buying the first few issues of that series. Okay, I liked the Sentry arc with McNiven on pencils, and that one gag with Spidey giving Luke Cage webbing boxing gloves was pretty hilarious, but seriously.

The Avengers. Fighting ninjas.

:csad:

i'm pretty sure i didn't see any avengers fighting ninjas. let me look again...hmm...nope. no avengers. there's ronin. fighting ninjas AND elektra.

is it that hard to wait until the story actually drops before bashing it?

I love Perel's Iron Fist. I wish Iron Fist would stay away from his collar costume forever and just go shirtless with green karate pants. I don't know what the preferred term for karate pants is.:csad:

Upon closer inspection, photojones seems to be correct. Elektra just can't stand girls who've been in the sack with Matt:csad:

Ah yes, the old divert attention from your own screw ups. Lovely.

The IC thing is nowhere near as bad as the crap we've been enduring in the house of money these days.

you read into things way too much,it's like you look for the slightest things to twist around and slam Marvel and JQ:whatever:

Those Deodato pencils are gorgeous,I just hope he gets a colorist and inker to do them justice.

This 1940s Marvel project continues to excite me.

Maleev and Yu's art look amazing. Not sure if I'm going to be reading the book though.

Marvel needs to get Perel on a monthly.

Yu's really gone crazy with the foreheads. Fake-Venom's brain must be three times the size of a normal person's.

Ronin is an Avenger, so there goes your logic.:o

well if you're gonna complain about Elektra and The Hand fighting one low-powered Avenger because they're not a challenge, you might as well kill yourself.:o

Yeah I thought that was common knowledge

Well, let's be serious here. Elektra? The Hand? They're from Daredevil's little sector of the world, and we all know Daredevil sucks and his villains aren't challenging to anyone. :)

HAHA.

That's so homoerotic. Put some pants on please Mister - you do not have sexy legs.

Joe Q also admitted, for the first time, that DAREDEVIL: TARGET #2 is dead in the water. Now when will he admit as much for ULTIMATE WOLVERINE VS. HULK #3 (or, gasp, #4)? The book has been pushed back now to the end of December and will at, at least, 10 months late and counting. C'mon now. Move on. Make it official. Don't wait until it's a year late.

There is a big difference between the two titles. Like Daredevil: Target for instance. I think the book is four to five years late or something like that now? And 10 months late for Ultimate Wolverine vs. Hulk? There's quite a difference there. And at least the book is being pushed back to SOMETHING. Daredevil Target # 2 didn't even get put on the damn MAP.

How dare you disrespect the fearsome and formidable Stilt-Man. :cmad:

Dude, that's nothing compared to what alot of the other Marvel heroes were wearing in the 30s and 40.

That Nighthawk vs Hyperion fight looks kick ass, and thats how Batman vs Superman fights should have always been written...except the last panel. How the hell does NH send Hyperion flying with one punch????

all you need to beat ninjas are 4 radioactive turtles

Man, this board is starting to sound like Newsarama...

Alex Maleev= incredible. Can't wait for that issue.

Thunderbolts sounds great. I like the remaining cast members, and the premise is pretty cool. Deodato is hit or miss, but he seems perfect for the book's tone.

Nah, it's true. A very valid and often used business tactic. His level of comparison is way off though.

And read your PM's!

I would because I know it'll be awesome, but I don't want to damage my wallet even further. :(

right, because she's been in all of the...3 issues she's been in. does that mean that jessica jones, the inhumans, the f4 and the x-men are avengers too?

Tom Brevoort said:
There are, in essence, two components to the Superhuman Registration Act, which is I think what's confusing so many people. The most basic component is Registration: if a person possesses a superhuman ability, they need to register that ability, just as though they were in possession of a firearm. There's a basic training component that goes with this, in the same manner that you wouldn't give somebody a gun license if they didn't display proper responsibility in the handling of a firearm.

The second component of the Act is what I've been calling "licensing": there's no obligation for any person to use his or her power in a super-heroic capacity, but should somebody choose to follow such a path, then they need to be licensed.

I see this as analogous to getting a Private Investigator's license, and involves a greater degree of training, but also potentially gives certain benefits, including a salary if people want to work with S.H.I.E.L.D., tactical support from S.H.I.E.L.D., and so forth. But there's no obligation for anybody to use their powers as superheroes (though some people do fear the possibility of a "back-door draft" compelling all those who are registered into a conflict at some point in the future.)
Well that's all certainly more reasonable and justifiable than what we had thought it was. Too bad that it doesn't even remotely resemble what the comics have actually been showing. It's nice that Brevoort has such a clear idea of what the act is supposed to be like; I just wish that he had told the writers, all of whom seem to have very clashing ideas about just what is in the act and what isn't.
