New Joe Fridays: Week 23

Sorry about that, I was commenting on his need to mention that he's gay in every interview or relate everything to his being gay.

It's not a knock on it.

I'm just really fed up with Heinberg's habit of putting comics on the back burner and expecting fans to kiss his feet when a issue comes out of YA. When the fix is so simple.
dude no offense.. but your whining... he wasnt originally going to even have YA till early next year.. wich means jan-march.. (wich still could be march) your treating him as if hes friggin kevin smith.. that guy had like a 3 year hole... with Black Cat: ETMD and this isn't going to be that

I'm done with K.Smith for now as far as comics.

My thing is theres no excuse for lateness on the writer's part if guy just collaborated with another writer '52' shows it can be done with success.

Even if it was due to Jim Chueng being late, I'd even take a fill-in artist like RunAways does.

no offence.. but i dont mind waiting an extra month for a great story... a month goes by fast...

I guess I'm impatient, but it's all for the love of YA.

ya, but patience is a vertue... having someone else touch them could easily ruin them

it'd be great if he came back like in two years, and the book failed horribily...

At the end of the day Heinberg ain't gonna be on YA forever hell the rate this guy is going YA will fail as a ongoing unless Marvel get fresh issues in the hands and minds of the fandom.

It's better to have Heinberg play a sorta 'story editor' role on YA than be a selfish prick and holdup the issues.

I think lateness on all ongoing books could be done away with by using these simple rules..

1) Any new ongoing should not be solicted until the creative team have at least 12 issues in the can ready to go.

2) If your knowingly gonna put a slow creative team on a book, use two regular artists who will switch out art chores every arc.

3) No mini-series should be solicted until all issues are finished, no teases, no preview art hold off until it's all done. Fans can't fiend over something they don't know is coming.

4) If a writer is falling behind on scripts or is only able too commit to a limited run, but his/her presence is crucial to the books success then use a co-writer from the start or let another writer of high quality work off plots/story arcs outlined by the writer who's late or leaving. (Daredevil hand-off between BMB and Brubaker is an example.)

5) Know your talent. If you know a guy like Bryan Hitch can only produce 6-8 issues a year, then don't offer him ongoing series unless you plan to use rule #1. If you got guys like Mark Bagley and John Romita Jr. who can pump out over 12 issues a year or handle two ongoings without breaking a sweat and still maintain quality art, first off double their pay and second keep them on your top tier ongoings.

All complaining aside, I know YA will be in good hands when it returns. Its funny, people complain about Marvel soliciting things before theyre done and failing on it later. Now, theyre taking the approach of waiting before anything for YA is solicited and fanboy *****ing commences. It seems Marvel cant win with you guys.

well the real funny thing is people *cough cough deemar325* cough* cough* acting like its behind.... when all heinberg has said himself is "hopefully early 2007" that can mean january-march wich it could still be march. Heinburg knows more then anyone that YA means alot to many people... its not like he's putting it off... We've had no set date for the YA's return.. so it can't be late till that point.

People like you are the reason that comic companies don't give a crap about deadlines anymore.

Well maybe hes not anal about small happenings in his life.

hey, all i can say is late 90's early 00's the stories stayed on schedule... were horrible, very generic, and marvel went into bankrupcy

Maybe it is. But I dont know, im with him, id rather wait another month for a great story than have one rushed out and be crap.

Doc Destruction said:
Yeah, because expecting a monthly comic to be MONTHLY is so anal.
it is when you care more about a deadline then a good story... nothing worse then a stupid space filler issue wich adds nothing to the mythos

it just makes me laugh though, cuz he's not even late yet and people are acting like hes hes months behind, just because of wonderwoman... trust me, the man cares MUCH more about YA then wonderwoman

Well, you can feel that way all you like, but 52 shows that if you put the right people on the right book and crack the whip you can do BOTH.

That doesnt make me feel good at all and feel that its an incorrect assumption.

Is that why All-Star SUperman, Seven Soldiers, Green Lantern, Teen Titans were notoriously weeks and months late.:o
