New Joe Fridays: Week 47

Looks like Frontline got a new colorist. Laura Martin is a very talented colorist, but for some reason she just does not seem to know what to do with Bach's artwork. The new guy looks a lot better.

Other than that, it's another slow NJF...

All's I know, is if the Hulk can now take on the Sentry physically, he's more than doubled in strength. Far more.

All Hulk would have to do is hold up a mirror and say, "Sentry, THIS is the real monster, not me," and then Bob would curl into the fetal position and sob for a week. :whatever:

Bendis is writing WWH?

Screw that. If I wanted huge mischaracterizations, I'd just go back to reading Civil War.

That's not relegated only to Bendis. That's also Paul Jenkins. You know. The guy that created the Sentry.

Yes, I did. Both were written by Paul Jenkins. In the latest one, the time the Sentry spends not saving the planet is spent sitting in front of a mirror, whining to himself.

So so so out of context to the point of isolation events explaining the whole. Come on, you know how I hate this sort of thing.

Because every time he walks away from the mirror, he's perfectly fine.

And throughout the entirety of the mini's, the Sentry is shown to be a stable, competent person capable of withstanding insults and the like. Or else, every time the Sentry even comes in contact with the Void, he'd just fly away and let the Void have his fun.

The only time things like this break down the Sentry, is when Bendis writes him.

But we could go back to that mini you were talking about, where the Void was giving the Sentry a face to face lecture in the Negative Zone of all places, while quite easily crippling the Hulk. Didn't really see Sentry go all ape**** there, now did we?

Point is, the whole mirror thing only really seems to work with Bendis. Everywhere else, the Sentry isn't written like he should be kept somewhere outside of the solar system because he's a hairs width away from detonating the sun on accident.

I just read the latest mini, so it's pretty fresh in my mind. The Sentry has "the power of a million exploding suns" yet when he's confronted by the Void, he breaks down and stumbles through it.

"NO! That's not true! You're a liar, go away!"

It's like he regresses to early childhood. I will give you one thing though. In that mini, he only acts like that when he's around the Void. Anyone else, and he beats the snot out of them. It's only when Bendis writes the Sentry that he breaks down in the midst of battle even if the Void's not there. And to be fair, he really just freezes up. I've yet to see him actually "curl up in the fetal position and cry."

And the whole point of the mini was to present the danger of Rob's existence. It's stated numerous times that his instability could could destroy the world.

Looks like Heinberg has actually been working on YA, I bet he has half an issue done or something. Personally, I expect to come out sometime in the Fall, November, if not I'll sign the new writer petition.

Fall is really not that far away. Unless you meant next fall, which I'd be more inclined to agree with.

Eh who knows what's going on behind the scenes right now.

I don't know. But I have a pretty good guess at what's not going on...

We'll get it on the next one. I have a feeling the 12 issue Sally Floyd: Origins is going to be hard for 'em to pass up.

Sad thing is, if that book were made, it would sell at least 1,000 copies from Marvel completist alone.

Dude, it was just a wisecrack.

That Cage art looks like Kyle Baker upon first glance.

Where do you get that impression? Joey explicitly stated that they weren't even prepared to announce a timetable yet, and Heinberg's own name appears nowhere in the article.

It's called reading between the lines Brian. He said tha all those resolutions would happen in YA Season 2, so thats indicative to me that it has been discussed with Heinberg or some other writer at least whats going to happen in the next volume. Seriously, read between the lines.

He could know all that without Heinberg having written even a single word of the script. Hell, we all know a bit about YA season 2 without Heinberg having written a single word of the script; the general plot they're going to try to find Wanda.

When asked the question of "What exactly are the YA's status now?", I bet everyone here would have said, "It'll be revealed in season 2." When exactly is season 2 happening? "We're not sure yet."
