The show definitely looked cleaner and sleeker in the fifth season, but I still prefer the Hyperion as the Angel gang's HQ. I hope they go back to it in the season 6 comic.

Although the first season is awesome, it ranks the lowest in my favourites list. The first is definitely season 3, because Holtz was the best enemy on the show... ever. It also contributed heavily to the development of Wesley. In second is definitely the fifth season, since that, unlike the show's fourth season, actually tackled some real character issues. Season 2 is next because of its awesome character development once again, but I don't really like re-watching the Dark Angel period, so to speak. That leaves fourth and first season, and well, the fourth season had a few more memorable episodes to me than the first.

Of course, Angel rocked the boat entirely.

Four was my worst due to Charisma Carpenter and her character Cordy. Let the side down with this one. Having been written out due to having a baby etc...then young Conor...

The Beast was so cool but after that it went a bit blah.

Yeah, it's telling that season four ruined Cordy so completely that I was glad to see her finally die in season 5. Well, almost glad, since Charisma brought everything I loved about Cordy back in her one appearance in season 5.

Yes as an actress she brought a great closure to the character after she was so badly handled in season 4. It was so sad....

I never bought it either, I always saw it more of a good friedship..

Now the Fred/Gunn/Wesley triangle was the best thing since Buffy/Angel season 2 (Buffy).

Yeah, that was great. That trio and Angelus actually saved season four from being a complete disaster to me. As the Angel/Cordy/Connor bull**** got worse and worse, it was nice that at least the Fred/Wesley/Gunn stuff was getting more and more interesting.

I just kept feeling more and more sorry for Wesley...

Yeah, me too. But it all served to make Wesley one of the greatest tragic figures in televised history. That's why I'm actually glad he died, even though the series is coming back for a sixth season in comic form. Wesley's character needed to die, just to make his tragedy complete. The way he died was a bit lame, but the fact that he died was necessary and appreciated in the finale.

Agreed on... well, everything. Wes did pretty much need to die in the finale. It's why I like the look between Angel and Wesley just before they take off for their mission. Angel basically knows he's going to die. I didn't really mind the Cordy-changes. Was never that big of a fan of her, although I liked her enough (she was hot too). Her role was done for me after season two though. Became neutral to her after that.

I liked Cordy as the uber-*****. Having the visions was a good way to make her less completely self-absorbed, but I think they went way overboard with it. She was practically a saint by season 3 and wasn't nearly sassy enough anymore.

Meh! She could've continued serving as a wonderful foil for Fred as Fred evolved into the woman she became. But alas...

It certainly would've provided a nice balance to the Fred-centric story lines in the fourth and the fifth season. Whedon seemed to have developed a kind of fetish for the lovely lady Amy Acker by that time.

My favorite lines from that episode are Doyle's "last words" on the series as a whole: "Is that it? Am I done?" on the video tape. Such a great way to loop the episode back on itself to reflect on Doyle's character. Poor Doyle.
