New Layout Feedback

So personal temporary solution to the polls is to use this site for polling until we get it fixed:

The site seems to really be lagging. I noticed it last night. It was freezing up every now and again and doesn't seem much better now. Did you have to go to a backup server or something? At first I thought it was my computer (I don't reboot often), but all the other sites I visit seem to be functioning normally.

Techs didn't tell us anything new recently. I learned Dark Reader will significantly consume memory in Firefox on my tablet, though.

I think I figured it out. They are evidently not allowing you to use an ad blocker anymore and when I turned it off, the ads are slowing things up. Sometimes I can't even type and sometimes my browser lags for everything when this site is open.

It's not really usable at this point so unless something changes, I'll have to sign off. I'll check in on occasion with my phone.

You use Chrome right? Which ad blocker?

That may work. Google is on an anti-adblock kick by the way so they're trying really hard to stop them.
Well, then, Google can go EF themselves with a rusty pipe. I don't need them.

I use Chrome and Adblock Plus and have zero issues with lag. Everything is fine and all ads are blocked.

I still get this too. Inbedded things lik÷ tweets and reddit won't show up, I get empty boxes. It's much better on my phone than my tablet, and my tablet is only fours years old. :(

Oh is this a MacBook or iPad?
MacBook

I actually know how to type so it works better for me. Took typing in high school because there were no boys in it. Cooking and Dancing too. LOL

I use Dark Reader as well and I have noticed Firefox can be quite memory intense.

I had to turn it off. It was causing my keyboard to freeze and apps crashing in the background. My tablet is only 4GB though.

This is not actually a screenshot btw, just a photo from my phone the other day when Firefox was a little too hungry.

Depends on how many extensions you have running and how resource heavy they are. I run around 30 of varying degrees of intensity. Dark Reader obviously being one of the worst offenders.

Ublock and Dark Reader... That's it.

No No-Script? Ghostery? Privacy Badger? Those are my first installs on new browsers.

I used to use Ghostery. Privacy Badger didn't like the Twitter embeds on the Hype for some reason. I tried No Script, but didn't feel like it was actually protecting me. I read not to use privacy trackers with Ublock because it screws up its privacy tracker, too. Also Ghostery sells metadata.

Just tried No Script and it just disabled Java Script for the Hype and that's it. :funny:

No-Script lists 6 different domains including the hype, evolve media, cloudflareinsights, doubleclick, outbrain and xenforo

Also, Ghostery stopped selling metadata years ago after it was aquired by someone more repubtable.

Privacy Badger doesn't like Twitter because Twitter tracks embeds too.
