New Layout Feedback

Looks the same to me.
Interesting. I can see it clearly on my phone now (Chrome) but at first it was indistinguishable. Probably just me getting used to it.

You too, huh? I thought that was just me. The only way I've managed to resolve it, so far, is to just enable the option that says, "Store and/or access information on a device", which I don't wanna do. I don't wanna enable any of those cookie options, but, apparently, I have to enable at least that one just to stop that ****ing pop-up. And even with that option enabled, I still got the pop-up again at one point last night.

Oh my goodness.. I have had that damn pop up annoying me for what seems like years now, truth be told I never actually read those, I just reject or uncheck everything just automatically. If I had actually read that option I'd have had this problem fixed, at least one Chrome, ages ago.

If I could double like your post I would. Instead you'll have to settle for a firm handshake & a :fhm: on the cheek. It's gone.. but the question is.. for how long..

I played around in the dev tools. Included some feedback from @Lily Adler and @Kane52630 that I agree with.

As a software dev with an enthusiasm for UI/UX design, I say this: "Pure black" text (#000000) on "pure white" background (#FFFFFF) is a big no-no. The contrast, while optimal, is too high and unbalanced, and can cause eye strain for some/many. There can be some exceptions, like accessibility, to use pure black.

For most people, a dark gray text is sufficient. Alternatively, instead of a pure white background, go with a white with less brilliance (gray'ish white?).

Regarding sections with new messages vs no new messages, two different icons could be shown to better reflect that:

Bold text for sections with new messages is OK, but having the same icon as sections without messages can be confusing and don't really stand out. Alternatively, for this example, the PC section could be shown in black for both the icon and the text.

Now this is subjective and just my opinion, but I would also completely remove the right section. I don't give a **** about forum stats, or give a **** about who is online or what the latest threads are... I'd dump the social media buttons too. :funny: The avatar of the last person can also be removed so there's less cluster**** and gives the forums a cleaner look.

So, that's my feedback. My major is in engineering so my knowledge in the matter isn't worth much. We could ask an actual UI/UX designer (I believe our very own resident @Flint Marko is one). :)

I've noticed that sometimes signatures are there and sometimes not. Not sure why.

Noir (Apple iOS - Safari) (there's other extensions, some free, some not. can't vouch for them)
Dark Reader (Microsoft Edge)
Dark Reader (Google Chrome)
Dark Reader (Mozilla Firefox)

I think Chrome and Edge on iOS are forced to use Safari as their engine, so maybe Noir or a similar dark mode extension will work with them, I don't actually know the particulars of how iOS Safari extensions work.

Struggling with dark mode in chrome on my tablet. To do it they want me to load in something experimental that could compromise my tablet and I don't dare. I did turn on my tablets dark mode which is better but not totally dark. Oh, well.

Also, did we lose the emoji menus for good?

I like the whiteness, but not the black print on dark red, like under our posts that shows who liked it. Very hard to read.
Agreed on that. I can barely see that part on mobile.

No its there click on the 3 dots next to the photo icon and it pops up.
I must be stupid. I press the dots, see a smilie face indicative of emojies, but when I tap the face, nothing happens. :(

:queasy: Oh wait, I did it sorta by accident.... The old way was better.

This is too much learning for my elderly brain. :sadcat:

I like the white better than the clutter it was before. But the dark font on red is hard to see
