This is an interesting to odd casting choice, but I'm always happy when a little person get's a high profile gig.

As has been pointed out, they didn't exactly cast an Asian actor for the last great splinter performance. They also went ahead and cast a black man to voice shredder in that current tv show and if I recall a white man to voice shredder in the 90's movie.

I wonder if they had cast Christian Bale instead of Woodburn...

I just have a hard time picturing this. Has he done voice acting before?

I do wish this film looked more promising though, because I DO enjoy TMNT, and hope it's not totally ****** for the new generations.

But...oh well.

Eh, good or bad, I wouldn't worry too much about that. If anything, the Nick toon will likely have a more lasting effect.

Well, we already have one Twilight member as Michelangelo. With the current casting, I wouldn't be surprised if Taylor Lautner ends up as Casey.
Me either

I seriously wonder if liebesman had any say casting, because so far it's not matching his previous movies

That's some pretty crappy casting for Splinter. I'm not going to take him seriously with that guy's voice.

Did anyone watch the Alan Ritchson (Raphael) interview? He made the comment that production hit a snag with the tech and they'll be restarting principle Photography:

I'm kinda shocked by it and I'm wondering if Jonathan Lieberman is having a hard time with the production besides the fan backlash.

Wonder what kind of problems they had exactly and if anyone has seen them shooting (if they shot in an open area).

I've heard the term, never knew what it meant though.

It's pretty much a term used for those who've done sexual favors to get their roles in films and TV.

What snag and where does it say restarting principle photography? It sounded like he was just referencing the learning curve on the mocap, but that's it. And I don't really care one way or another about Danny Woodburn doing Splinter. The guy can do character acting, so it doesn't warrant overreaction. Let's not let this turn into The Technodrome.

If you watch the video and not just read the transcript, he clearly states there's some sort of hiatus right now.

Perhaps this movie will be close to the comics instead of the cartoon...remember in the comics Splinter was a rat that got mutated...not an asian man that got turned into a rat/man hybrid.

With Woodburn's casting, either it'll be brilliant or a disaster depending on what direction the tone will be. But you have to assume strongly that Danny can pull it off and will do some sort of 'wise and mystical' voice for Splinter. I think he has it in him.

I have to hear it before i condemn it

I'm hoping he pushes himself in this role. I don't know where I stand on this film. I guess I'm in the middle, not too excited but not hating like others because Bay is dire...I mean producing.

Every year we seem to go through this when movies are cast and every year people have to eat crow...i wish people could see this place when Ledger was first cast as Joker

that's supposed to be secret.

Let's face it: it's hard to 'read' this production so far. Due to the pre-production stigma, this movie could end up being the biggest surprise of the year. I mean, I'm a very initiative person and I can't tell what kind of film this will be. Usually my gut feelings are pretty reliable. Not this time.

So we're gonna have to wait and see!!

i think the trailer will be the first tell

I remember those days with the Joker casting. All I know is I won't be eating crow when it comes to the splinter casting. I have yet to see anything with that actor that impressed me. He's basically a one note. I don't think I can take Splinter seriously with that squeaky voice...unless they really alter it in post. With Heath, he actually played his characters different each time, depending on what was needed. This guy...nope.

Very true. I look forward to at least seeing what the Turtles will look like.

I would go out and say our first look at the Turtles will be an indicator. If they're gaudy looking (Bay's Transformers; not in literal design but same mindset on the overall look) or overly grotesque, it'll be a big sign.

The first trailer will likely get the same reaction that TMNT (2007) got from fans.
