Yes. Presumably, because they have taken out the Alien Turtles subplot.

However, if the set photos from today confirm what many think they do, we could still see an alien/ultrom version of Shredder.

I wish I could hate that idea, but Utrom Shredder in the cartoon was awesome. Though I still wished he would have remained human when they revealed it.

It would be cool if they adapted Krang's suite from the 80's cartoon so that it looked like the Nemesis, or some other humanoid B.O.W. from Resident Evil.

A utrom shredder may just put my interest in the film alot higher that would be pretty sick of done well. Then again I always think anything turtles done WELL could work.

The set photos of the presumed foot soldiers dressed in army garb.

In the original script, the The Foot was a military faction with the Foot Soldiers being literal soldiers and Shredder (or Colonel Schrader as he was called) was an alien. I didn't read the script completely so I can't say if he was an "ultrom" like Kraang, who was also featured.

I've been quiet on the the pics of the [presumed] Foot soldiers. Then it occurred to me, I don't mind the concept. I loved the concept Richard Krause presented in Fight the Foot. I think the idea of more militant members of the clan is fine, as long as there is a membership of ninja as well. Think of the 1990 film, where the Foot was a vast organization, and the ninja were the elite members. I can see a guerrilla-style team, working in tandem with discrete ninja, being very effective in bringing a more thorough criminality to the big screen.

That actually doesn't sound bad. I wouldn't even mind if the Elite Ninjas are like Snake Eyes and still carry guns into battle. Ninjas would use every effective weapon to kill. They wouldn't just rely on old school stuff like swords and throwing stars.

Ninjas in 2013 would carry guns. They're called special ops.


A modern day Shredder would have a lot of respect for the old ancient ways of ninjitsu, but he would also not be averse to modern day tech.

This. I think they will military esque soldiers.

Maybe with Martial Arts training. But that's it. We won't be seeing any ninjas in the traditional sense.

I will give them credit and say that there dress does have some ninja esque attributes to it. Its a really nice blend of soldier and ninja IMO.

They aren't wearing a strip of bandannas nor do they appear to have foot soldier like masks in sight, I fear that the crappy foot soldiers didn't just stay in the final script but that the colonel alien shredder did as well, this might sound dumb but cause we have now seen pics of the foot on the set...well I think the film makers already casted someone to play Shredder based on that and think that they are holding back on who it is that is playing him. It wouldn't make sense for them still needing someone to play Shredder since the movie has already started filming. I recognize that things aren't always as they seem but my gut is telling me this.

Agreed. I hope they got rid of the Colonel Shrader thing (it was a big part of the alien turtles subplot) but from what we've seen, they are keeping the military aspect of it.

About the TMNT movie logo, I fear that they might look too much like the the turtles from the Nickelodeon cartoon. They look fricking atrocious in my eyes. I dare say that everyone that is playing a foot soldier in the movie is white or white and black and that Shredder will be played by a white guy.

Actually, the logo is the original TMNT logo from the comics.

These 'Foot Clan' look terrible.

The League of Shadows would have been a great modern Foot. Yes, ninjas are not pc these days but those guys in the photos look terrible. Not even good for ninja/military mix, even for a GI Joe look.

The only problem I have with the Foot outfits are the masks. They don't seem functional at all. I'm fine with the Foot using guns; it'll make Shredder more badass when he engages the Turtles in the old style.
