i am suprised that the shell is so big on the back. i know that they are cgi. i was hoping for a more athletic superhero style body for the turtles. the big shell could destroy the porportions.

but you know what i mean right? its not only big in x and y axis. its also very thick very big in z axis. its very out. sorry for my bad english in describing this.

if the shell will be as big as the motion cap suit then it will be bigger than the old movie version.

since everything will be so modern i hope that the designs will at least make them look cool.

i like Fichtner, but i really hope he is not playing Shredder. Rat King, Kraang, or even Baxter would be good but NOT Shredder. it's already bad enough they got a white guy playing Splinter.

It doesn't matter who plays 'Splinter' since he's a mo-capped rat. Though it does matter if Shredder is not Japanese. His real name, his entire backstory goes back to Japanese. And let's face it, there's many white roles out there, and only a few for Asian/etc actors. It's not a political thing, it's just reality.

I wonder if they're going to try and modernize the turtle's vocabulary(Among other things) to fit with the times.

I still feel like I was robbed of Super Shredder in TMNT 2. If Shredder is an alien in this then I hope that he's like Super Shredder but better, Super Shredder wasn't too bright in TMNT 2, and his defeat was lame.

Ugh, too much of this movie seems to be kept under wraps, I want to know about Krang, and Beebop and Rocksteady. I wanna know if they are still in the movie.

Disappointed that those Merc looking guys are indeed the Foot. I hope that they are just one branch of the Foot. I don't mind modernized Ninjas, but there is nothing Ninjaish looking about them.

And those Turtles shells really look gigantic. Let's hope it looks good once we actually see the CGI Turtles.

Seems like an opportunity the studio couldn't resist.
If it turns out to be true, I'll be torn personally.

It's new and interesting so as along as it is done in solid way it should be fine. Batman wasn't so grounded in "ninjas" before Begins. If you told anyone coming out of the Burton films anything about ninja's they say "what"? Also, Ra's wasn't some White guy with a hit of highlander in his voice. That Scimitar aesthetic was surely missed by the purists I'm sure.

Mercenaries with samurai like mask's seems like something this property can take ownership of instead of just more ninjas. When a brand is as poor in the public eye as turtles is, like batman was, sometimes it takes a solid change to the accessories get the GA going again.

I for one PRAY, they save Shredder for the sequel. In this day and age, you save your best hand for part 2, after the GA is back on board.

The big shells are awesome. If they really did get the stunt team from the Raid, and those shells are as light as one would assume....
Plus these are cgi characters, it shouldn't matter.

You know, I was going to wait to see the final design of the Turtles, to judge if those giant shells work, but I've already come to the conclusion that I don't like them. For the simple fact that they are too wide. I mean like, how would they be able to do a simple motion like pulling their elbows back? Wouldn't they constantly bump against their own shells? It seems to constrict, in this case pretty much prevent, specific arm movements.

What about designs that look like Cobra ninjas? Or Storm Shadow? Would that be so fricking hard to do that wouldn't look "gritty or realistic." Seriously, you have big walking, talking Turtles and a giant talking rat. Aliens and mutants too. I mean Hollywood needs to pull their heads out of their asses and stop going for "being different" or "dark" and stick with what the fans know. I'm not knocking Nolan's Batman films because I love them (well "TDKR" was a bit underwhelming) but nonetheless how hard is it to make ninjas look ninja-esque? Like someone said, did they just go, "Oh, they're called Foot Soldiers ... well we can work with that."

Hell, I would've been fine with a simple mask like this:

Agreed. I was never really worried about there heights but the size of the shell can destroy the design if too big.

That's one of the reasons I was hoping they used the "TMNT (2007)" designs as an inspiration, proportion wise. Those proportions were perfect, barring the shell which could have been slightly bigger but was great nonetheless.

I'm thinking they made them that big so they have some margin for error when they put them into the live action scenes.
