New series from Dan Slott!

ok, first off, Dan always refered to GLA as something that was different from the rest of his stuff, too. Same with Arkham Asylum. Guess what, though? He LOVED doing those books, and they were still lots of fun, they were just darker.

Don't pigeon hole the guy, he can do ALOT more than just comedy. And whatever this project was, it was HIS idea, no one pushed him into it, everybody just loved what they heard. I don't know how you can possibly be making something, I don't know, sinister out of that.

and the editorial retreat was something for EVERY Marvel writer, so no, he's not all of a sudden more chummy with Quesada and BMB any more then he was last month, or last year

I know its bad to pigeon hole a writer, but I love his comedy. Hopefully it will have a little dark humor in it, if it is a dark book, he could be trying to throw us off.

Can't wait to see what it is, i'm an Iron Fist fan and Quesada said there might be a new series. So maybe it's him?

That line could be twisted to genius comedy. lol Love-stink. There's a book called Weapon Brown that mixes Sin City and Peanuts and the story happens after a nucular fallout, that line reminded me of it. That book is real funny. :)

Make me a "Dan Slott kicked your best-selling writer's ass" one while you're at it. ;)

Will do!

I hope this works out for Dan this new series.

Damage Control!

Writer: Dan Slott
Artist: Ed McGuinness

Cast:

D-Man
Thing
Hercules
Awesome Andy
Axum
Titanna
Puck (Foreman/Shift manager)

Premise:

Thing with his new found riches and the events of Civil War has decided to get out the superhero profession and go legit with a Disaster relief/Contruction company. Although Ben is really using his Damage Control team to still fight the good fight, but in a more structured way in the name of public service.

Think the t.v. show 'Taxi' meets the 'A-Team' with Ben as the boss trying to keep the business afloat and Puck as Danny Devito.

This would be cool if Dan had something like this in mind for the new ongoing.

So I'm looking for more Slott to read and with Thing being cancelled would you recommed Arkham Asylum?

Absolutely. It's a MUCH Darker tale than anything else you'll have read from him and withjout the usual slapstick, but as a story it is amazingly well crafted.

The real cool thing is that most of the inmates that star in the series were created by Slott for the story... but you'd never know it, they FEEL like real, classic Batman villains. Hell, Humpty Dumpty, as a concept, is probably the best Batman villain 30 years.

i havent been interested in any of dan's work. but i like how he respects the characters , unlike certain *****e bags do at marvel. so that goes a long way, so I'll be checking out his book.

It's just a dream, Corp whatever he said gave me the idea.

I think it would be a pretty cool series.

Well Dan Slott said he's moving away from the funny book style so your right, it wouldn't work now anyways.

Damn Dan hasnt posted on here in a while.

Glad you liked the line. That was my attempt at some over-the-top, ridiculous post-Miller level dialogue. Many writers fail to realize that "grit" can be just as silly as SUPERMAN'S PAL, JIMMY OLSON if you mishandle, overplay it, or do it just for its own sake. "Dark" stuff just seems more pretentious these days. "Look how gritty I am, I'm having Black Cat get raped", that sort of thing.

I mean, no offense to Frank Miller, who redefined "gritty noir" in his past work, but by ASB&R, its getting rather silly. ;)

I love Weapon Brown

but it's really a mix of Peanuts and The Road Warrior
