Wait, Spidey got cancelled??

Yup. Issue 12 is the last whenever it releases.

Luckily I just received Vol 1. a few days ago (issues 1-6) and I'll be getting Vol. 2 (7-12) in January. Hopefully if enough people buy it, they may make Robbie Thompson write another Spider-Man focused story again. Haven't read Silk but I'm inclined to given his writing.

Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows (Conway) is all we have for a Spider-Man story that is an alternative to Slott. Also, so much for an alternative in terms of their animation department.

I'm sure it'll be better then Ultimate Spider-Man, but by how much exactly?

Well to be fair, I honestly don't think Spidey was very good either.

To each their own. It was a breath of fresh air to me that I had hoped would slowly become the main Spider-Man title to kinda/sorta coincide with Homecoming but alas.

Depends how you feel on Dan Slott. :oldrazz:
Well personally, considering the way he acts online and the way he deliberately trolls the fan-base with many of his stories (Power Play being the most recent perpetrator), it absolutely baffles me how anybody can have respect for him at this point.

Pretty much.

As a person I think he's total garbage. His stories are very mediocre. Nothing great but nothing horrible either.

Damn, I had no idea. Last issue I picked up was 9#, I'll definitely have to read this one as a farewell to the series. Definitely going to have to check the new RYV, because the last one I read was last year in August.

I want this series to be as good as Spectacular, but I highly doubt it with Slott involved. But yeah, being slightly better than Ultimate wouldn't exactly be a spectacular feat. :oldrazz: I'll hold out until I see a trailer or something

Ah, we finally get rid of Ultimate and the whining continues. I must be on the hype boards!

First let me say the Spidey comic was nothing special, so it's cancelling isn't a big deal. I was considering dropping it anyway.

Second, a pet peeve of mine. There is a difference between design and animation. Animation is how an animated show moves, how it flows. Spectacular had much smoother animation than the 90's show. When people tend to say the animation in the 90's show was better than Spectacular, I suspect they mean they don't care for the design of Spectacular, which was simpler and more stylized. The simpler design allowed for smoother animation. For the record, I like the stylization of Spectacular to the more generic look of the 90's show or Ultimate.

And I see it is time for the torches and pitchforks at the mention of Slott. Taking out how he might act online, Slott has a very good knowledge of Spidey's history and is very good at setting up various plot lines. I see it as a positive. I'm not expecting Spectacular. The mention of the guy from Avengers Assemble makes me think, much like Assemble brought a cartoon more in line with the MCU, this new cartoon will likewise fall inline with Homecoming. For example, Flash will most likely look and act like Flash in Homecoming.

But Slott has that knowledge that Weisman had. While I don't expect this show to be as good as Spectacular, I do expect it to be better than Ultimate (I hope!).

Perhaps, but what he lacks however is Weisman's respect for the material and the fan-base. He also lacks his ability to tell strong stories that feature honest and compelling characterization.

Man only about 5 hours ago that this was posted and already almost to page 3 things sure go fast hear when we get knew news about something.

Spidey got cancelled and he's still going. :cmad:

These gifts are great Any idea when we may get more news about this? Like photos of different characters so we now more of how the art style is going to look? Or like who is playing spidey etc.

Being better then ultimate is not saying much though lol. I hope it can be has good or at least in the same ball part has spectacular and the 90's one. I under stand what you are saying about the art style. I don't like the art style of spectacular like at all but its animation was great has the action sinces where great and much better then the 90's show. Even though I don't like spectacular art style at all I still love the show because its story's, action, and voice acting where all great. The 90's show I like its art style much more though buts its animation was not that great. I think part of that is when it was made and tech back then. If they used the same art style now I think they could animate it better. I would like a show with 90's art style but with spectacular animation and with Keaton back has Spider-Man. That would be like the perfect Spider-Man cartoon to me.

I guess I don't mind Dan Slott doing this. He always writes Spider-Man like a 15 year old anyway, even though he's gotta be like 25 now.

Truth be told, I wanted an older Spider-Man. Like he's been Spider-Man for a few years now, ran into a couple super villains, maybe he's in college now, trying to balance that with his superhero life. I dunno, I feel like we keep defaulting to high school Spider-Man. It'd be nice to have a Spidey who, even if he's still young and ends up with rotten luck, generally has his **** together.
Hell, I'd argue that college makes more sense for the idea of "great power and great responsibility" considering now you're an adult and the choices you make matter a lot more than high school.

Though, to be fair I might just be trying to justify less Spidey in high school.

IT'S OFFICIAL.

:(

Dan Slott really is a mixed bag. His current run on Spider-Man comics is crap. But, he's done some really solid work, i.e. I'm with Stupid, Renew Your Vows, etc.

While my expectations have diminished thanks to Slott being involved, I'll keep an open mind and am hoping for the best. At least USM is going away. That was pure ugly.

Slott has a good working knowledge of the Spidey mythos and continuity but it's all about execution. Weisman is respectful of the source and sought to bring about more cohesion within the story while maintaining the core of the characters. Slott will do the same so long as the story revolves around Ock or Carlie Cooper.

I'm not going to denounce this show just because Slott is involved but my excitement is now diminished. It's not whining, it's that I care how this turns out and I really don't care for Slott and his methods.

Perhaps, but what he lacks however is Weisman's respect for the material and the fan-base. He also lacks his ability to tell strong stories that feature honest and compelling characterization.

This.

OH MY GOD I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS, I'M SO EXCITED, BEST SPIDEY ANIMATION NEWS EVER!!!!!

Couldn't agee more with this. Spider-Man TAS REALLY didn't old well like Batman TAS, which like Spectular Spider-Man is stylized, and for the looks of it we are getting this last approach again this time around. :woot:

I love Weisman. I doubt that anyone here has watched SSM again and again more times than I did. With that said, Dan Slott is literally THE Spider-Man's encyclopedia. Weisman had an amazing grasp at Spider-Man, but now Spidey has an animation show with Dan Slott as consultant and this is absolutely nuts. Gerry Conway AND Stan Lee see him as one of THE BEST Spider-Man writers of all time, and I couldn't agree more and be more psyched by this. :ilv:

Dan Slott wishes he was on Weisman's level. I wonder if this new show will have forced synergy with the MCU like the other Marvel animated shows currently airing. The art style seems very different from the other ugly shows too, so crossovers may be a bit awkward.

Considering I hate the current wave of Marvel cartoons ehh but I am a fan of the Slott run & this got the worse Spider-man show off air so they have my attention. I'll give them 5 episodes & if it sucks ill go back to my Spectacular Spider-man Blu-ray
