Gotta get to parts 5 and 6 of this Origins thingie to really hit ya' on something close to Spectacular
because the direction and writing in those 8 minutes truly is spectacular.

I hope we get one that does, but right now we can easily agree that this won't even hold a candle next to that one.

I wouldn't make such a bold claim as to state that nothing will ever surpass TSSM however I've yet to see anything with this new show to indicate that will happen. TSSM has set a pretty high standard so it will be tough to beat that mark.

That review doesn't give me much hope at all.

The fact that they feel Peter is the least likable/interesting character in his own show speaks volumes. Yay for more obnoxious Spider-Man.

I am not fond of that remark either. And so far, I agree with that part of the review. It's not a good sign.

When will these be released? I'm still pretty open about this show--I have plenty of reservations and concerns but there's definitely room for improvement and who knows, things may get better over time.

Ah, ok, and thanks for posting part 5. Overall, this one was probably the best out of the origin shorts so far. I loved Stan's role and I dig how they chose to go with Bonesaw instead of Crusher Hogan. Nice little Raimi nod there. The humor fell flat for me though but I like how they're keeping with the traditional origin of Peter letting the thief escape..."not my problem."

Saw part 6 of this thing and thought it was handled well. This is already leaps and bounds better then ultimate ino. Very good emotions portrayed. Loved it. I hope Disney stays close with this new route. I like the dark take.

Agreed . It wasn't cheesy or drawn out unnecessarily, but it really hit the right beats.... Definitely looking forward to this show

Now, that was really good. I don't see why they can't just have Peter sound like this all the time. The performance was so much better than the rest of the origin shorts and other previews. If the show continues that and also matches the overall quality in this most recent short, I'll be happy.

I'm in the Middle East so no. It's really weird to have it for this region, but not for the country it originated from.
DVD region lock is one of the lamest decisions I ever heard of.

I haven't seen the other parts, but I really liked this! Wasn't cheesy, didn't try to make it lighter, actual guns involved and no laser pistols or ambiguity in what killed Ben. They flat out let you know he's gone.

I'll be giving this show a chance, it may just need to get its sea legs after a few episodes, and that should be fine.

I love Spectacular and I know it's never coming back, but each show, I give a chance. I don't hold it up to comparison after I've gotten a significant taste of the new show. Did that for Ultimate, gonna do that for this.

edit: also, is it just me or does the show look leagues better in the evening/night scenes??? It seems the shading is better.

Yeah, I'm going to have to wait and see how this show turns out after a few episodes before tuning out like I did with Ultimate. Now granted, I feel that Peter if he remains like "Sheldon Cooper" is going to grate on my nerves, however, I have hope that after they establish that Peter is smart, they will show it in a less "in your face" manner.

It looks a lot better then untimate from those clips I know that is not saying much with how bad that show was but still the clips look solid. 90's show and spectacular Spider-Man are the 2 Spider-Man shows that are worth watching any time hoping this can be the 3erd one.

Not saying it will be just that those are by far the top 2 spiderman shows and really the only ones I really care for much. Some of the other shows like spiderman and his amazing friends are ok and like the show that started shortly after the animated one in the 90's are ok and then ones like the MTV one and Ultimate spiderman really suck. I think it will be better then most of those.
