New Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie and TV show in the works!

Cool poster, but this franchise has run it's course. love the first, and the rest have been pretty lackluster overall. I enjoy 2, but think it's overrated and I like 3rd film to an extent. what is there left to do?

I guess the problem with Texas Chainsaw Massacre is that the only character that is remembered from the original is Leatherface. Halloween at least has Laurie Strode and Loomis, so you can carry those characters on to root for. And Jamie Lee Curtis became a big star so her return became an event (twice!).

They can keep proclaiming that this is the TRUE sequel, but other than Leatherface, who are we rooting to see return? Why should it be an event?

True.
You dont have too much you can do with the TCM due to its nature.
You could maybe do something like halloween did and have Leatherface escape a prisoner transport that is going throw a shady town or so...but even that doesnt add too much.

In the end you still only have Leatherface and his home.
With Jason you have Crystal Lake, a good location to use and have an excuse why people would be there.
With Michael you have a few characters and Haddonfield.

I would rather try a reboot that builds a connection to a place you can use further or a character that has a bigger meaning to leatherface.
In a Sequel you have to force a lot of things to make it work, maybe too much.
But i will wait and see what they come up with.

The sequels lost sight of why the characters were the way they were. The original touches on this several time when they mention how new, faster and cheaper methods were taking their jobs away (from the slaughterhouse), and that they are so rural and have to fend for themselves, resorting to catching prey and eating them.

As much as some of the ideas in the Platinum Dunes movies don't work for me, they at least stayed with this theme for the most part.

Leatherface shouldn't be wandering around neighbourhoods or stalking people.

The original is one of the greatest horror films of all time. The second one is fun in its own right, but it’s completely different. The rest suck.

"You're Leatherface."

"I used to be."

I really hope they don't do a TV show. I have zero interest in a multi hour story about a 90 minute horror movie that does everything perfectly in that runtime. Some concepts just work better in a tighter self contained way. I don't need a whole hour dedicated to grandpa's backstory.

They're definitely going the Halloween 2018 route. I assume this will be one of the main roles with Sally and her trauma playing a big role.

Sounds good to me. I think a legacy sequel is all that could work at this point. Fede is amazing too, and I'm pumped for the practical efx.

To be honest, I'm actually surprised it took this long for them to include the character in any of the sequels! I had assumed she popped up somewhere in a cameo along the way but I guess not.

I want a legacy sequel for F13 so badly. It can be a new Part II or even a new Part V.

Probably Part V since Tommy Jarvis was the only memorable survivor?

Also, a new Part II was basically the 2009 reboot.

That reboot was promising, but was too CW sadly.

I did like the soft remake of og thru Part IV, that it attempted.

Eh... if this is what I suspect it's gonna be, I'm tapping out.

It's reportedly received negative reactions from test screenings. There's a heavy spoilers summary on Youtube.

If this is an another negative reviewed entry, they really need to just shelf the franchise. The plot sounds pretty damn stupid

I'm still willing to give this a chance and go in as open minded as possible, but holy crap does that plot leak sound awful. If any of that stuff ends up being true it might honestly give Texas Chainsaw 3D a run for its money when it comes to bad TCM sequels because as trash as that movie was this sounds alot worse honestly.

If those plot leaks are real then wow, it sounds like they really tried mimicking the success of Halloween (2018) but missed the mark—especially with the social commentary. The latter did it tastefully, but here it sounds very forced and out of left field in some scenes. Hopefully it comes across differently on screen.
