I liked the gore and had some fun with the movie, but this was stupid. Almost every character is unlikeable
Why would the girlfriend go with the cops and the old woman? That driver who stops the bus and just leaves for no reason... meaningless confrontation with the final girl from the original... main protagonist doesn't get the "final" shot in... and that ending killing the sister was dumb instead of shocking plus tons of other dumb moments
Also shouldn't Leatherface be way older? Seems like he's in his 30's, maybe 40's here. He should be an old man if this is supposed to be a sequel.
This was pretty awful. I thought Leatherface was cool, but everything else was just so stupid. Time to put this franchise to bed once and for all. There hasn't been a good Texas Chainsaw Massacre sequel except the 2003 remake honestly. Actually, I'd go a step further and say the 2003 remake I prefer to the original in some ways.
I wanted to watch this movie tonight because it looked like fun stupidity and I love trashy horror movies. Are you telling me this isn't even fun trash?
Well, this was definitely a movie. I did have some fun with it, but agree it was very stupid and offered nothing new for the franchise. The "legacy" sequel element was very poorly handled and ultimately pointless. Sally was shoe-horned into this as a poor man's Laurie Strode, but had little to no impact on the film or story whatsoever. Just pure fan service, I guess.
I liked the way Leatherface was presented, and he had some cool/badass moments especially towards the end. I also thought the setting of the old abandoned town was kind of cool at times. But the characters were all very stupid and made unusually bad decisions (not unlike Halloween Kills), while also being unlikeable. Poorly written, edited, and directed at times, but with some decent cinematography.
If you're looking for basically non-stop, over-the-top gore (especially in the last hour), this movie is for you. At least it is very short and flies by.
I personally really enjoyed it, was there some dumb moments? Sure, but I thought it was thoroughly entertaining. Some great death scenes, and probably the truest to its title haha

If you're going in knowing it's just dumb fun, you can still enjoy this. Don't expect anything like the 2003 movie, because you'll end up being disappointed. (It's nowhere near that level)The writing is really bad, but I was never bored. Plus I didn't expect to see that much gore.
Yeah, it was bad. But the 3D one might still be the worst.
This is fairly action-y with some good gore and kills so it has that going for it. I had a couple of good laughs with it. The short runtime helps.
The writing is bad, Sally feels underutilized and tonally I didn't feel like it took place in the same world as the original. It has that pristine Netflix polish on it as opposed to the dirty, grim feel the original had that worked for it.
The only other TCM that felt in line with the original was the '03 one.
The kills were pretty gory imo. The bus scene alone was brutal. The rest of it......Meh. Probably the most drained franchise compared to alot of others and honestly has never captured the torment and disturbing nature of the first. Shame really as i hold 2003 remake & beginning films quite dearly as a horror fan. I don't know where they can take this series now. Just leave it to die ffs
It's definitely not as bad as Texas Chainsaw 3D which I actually re-watched right before this and while that movie still sucks this movie honestly isn't much better either.
I was kind of enjoying the first half of it, but when it got to the bus massacre, I felt like it just went completely off the rails after that despite the plentiful kills and some solid gory effects.
Leatherface is pretty much teleporting Jason Vorhees in this which annoyed me quite a bit, but what really bothered me is how dirty they did Sally in this who was so out of character and inconsistent with the original film.
Bringing her back was pointless and you don't even get the same satisfying payoff that you got from seeing Jamie Lee Curtis comeback in Halloween 2018 which was a HUGE miss IMO.
Also, that ending was one of the stupidest things I have ever seen lol.
Actually enjoyed this movie quite a bit. I was expecting it to be complete trash and it definitely wasn’t. I loved the vibe and the cinematography, and they really delivered with the gore. The movie was completely absurd and unrealistic but I have to be honest I’m not the biggest TCM fan so I just had fun with it for what it was. I mean would Leatherface not be like 80 in this movie? He seemed like 50 at the most lol, but I just went with it
The original final girl returning was an interesting concept to me and I do appreciate that they included her in the film even if it was very brief. I do think it added a little extra something towards the end, although she didn’t really bring it like Sidney Prescott or Laurie Strode did in their legacy sequels.
Still think I like the 2003 remake and the beginning more, but this was still really decent
This was easily the third best film in the series next to the original and TCM2. I didn't anticipate actually liking this thing. Kicks the **** out of Halloween Kills.
So I actually had a ton of fun with this. It’s not good, but it’s entertaining. Honestly, I’ll spoiler since even though this doesn’t happen but I kept trying to call something that just didn’t happen.
Leatherface looks too young, so I kept thinking we’d find out he was the son of the original, and Leatherface was now like the grandpa from the original. Held out hope all the way to the after credits scene, but oh well.
This was pretty terrible, but I still enjoyed it. It needed more Tobe Hooper if they were really trying to do the black comedy and the commentary. I could get behind a TCM2-esque tone for something like this if done well.
I still can't rationalize how an elderly Leatherface wound up in an orphanage as a kid since the first movie and moves like a man half his age. Go figure!
This reminded me of the terrible 80s and 90s slasher sequels which have a stupid charm to them in their own right.

I could have swore they show him as an adult in the orphanage picture. My thought process was he wound up there after the events of the first film he's a child like mongoloid or something.
Watched it...its dumb fun, but thats about it.
Its not too long or so, for a boring saturday evening the right movie.
But thats about it.
The biggest problem imo is that it lacks identity.
Take away the title and it could easily be a generic B slasher.
Nothing screams TCM to me.
They really did the most basic H18 kind of movie without any care in the world.
Just take the basic idea of it and slap Texas Chainsaw Massacre onto it.
Had good kills and a surprising amount of gore, that was neat.
The writing is awful, none of the characters is in any way likeable, the only character that to me didnt felt as annoying, got killed early on.
Forgot her name, the blonde girl that for idiotic reasons decided to ride with the cops etc.
The rest, boy were they annoying and obnoxious.
I even wanted the main girl to be killed so badly.
You build no connection to the characters at all, adding the character from the first movie and use her like that was just weak.
The ending you could see a mile away easily and it was so predictable and bad.
But it actually would have made a neat sequel tease scene.
Have leatherface kill both and have the car drive off to the closest town, have cops find them both dead and trace back to where the car came from.
Neat idea, but they lose me because they had that annoying girl survive.
There were a few good shots in this, there was potential in the setting and stuff...but no profound interest in doing something with it.
It ends up being a decent movie but again another dissapointing TCM movie.
At this point...just let Rob Zombie do something with the IP.
He at least would get the tone right i feel.
Every Texas Chainsaw sequel ignores the previous sequels. It's practically a meme at this point
Let's get Zombie in here and let him do a proper sequel to Tobe Hoopers Part 2. His entire film career was built on worshipping that movie so give the man a shot already after the Munsters flops
It was bloody awful. I don't know why they brought Sally back other than for fan service. They could have done something interesting with her character given her history with Leatherface. What a waste.

Letting Leatherface kill Sally. That was cool and a nice subversion of the Halloween 2018 expectation of letting Sally get her revenge on Leatherface. Also, having Sally use the two girls as bait was an interesting choice, which I guess showed how crazy and desperate she was to get him, but it made her seem like a real ******* However, Sally's role was so small and basically pointless in the end.
The most egregious thing with Sally was that she got the jump on him in his room and had Leatherface dead to rights and could have blasted him in the face with the shotgun, but then gets upset that he doesn't recognize her and literally lets him slowly walk away out of the room, down the stairs, and outside so Leatherface could attack the two girls she had trapped. Very strange.
