Yeah that Is true although she occassionly does non action and non genre
films not made by husband. And since he's not Involved I don't see her
playing Viper.
Two that I can think of that weren't directed by her husband are Van Helsing and Pearl Harbor.

That's true. And I forgot about Whiteout which could fall Into action genre.Although most
did already considering how It bombed.

Inless Hugh jackman would like to work with her again I still don't see her playing Viper.

Interesting...

Jessica Biel Exits 'Wolverine' Movie

Sources say actress gets cold feet over chance to play Marvel super-villain Viper.

Jessica Biel
's stint as Viper was short-lived.

The Total Recall actress was in talks Friday afternoon with 20th Century Fox to play the sexy villain in The Wolverine. But by late Friday night, Biel passed. Sources say she got cold feet.

A similar turn of events happened in 2007 when Biel was in talks with Warner Bros. to play Wonder Woman in a Justice League of America movie.

Yeah, I kept thinking of Justice League.

LOL! Why would she get cold feet? Hopefully the actress that will replace her will be so much better.

These sites do it all the time - they report on actors being in negotiations and everyone assumes it's a done deal since most of the time it usually is. Well, this one fell through.

I wondered if negotiations weren't going so well when she distanced herself a little bit a few days ago.

She's not in it, the rumors were false. Deadline.com blows.

They weren't false it was reported she was in negotiations and she was, but those have now broken down.

Sources say actress gets cold feet over chance to play Marvel super-villain Viper.

Maybe her agents felt the buzz was kind of mixed? Or the deal they were offering wasn't good enough for her.

From this report, it sounds like an Australian actress is going to get the role, and there's going to be a press conference next week with the Prime Minister. Sounds like a big deal for Australia.

Jessica Biel pulls out of Hugh Jackman's The Wolverine with filming to begin in Sydney next week.

HUGH Jackman is yet to find his female lead for the upcoming sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine - despite filming due to begin at Sydney's Fox Studios next week.

Jessica Biel, who is starring in the remake Total Recall, reportedly turned down the role after all but agreeing to play Viper in the Marvel franchise flick, according to US reports.

However, talks with director James Mangold are said to have dissolved recently, leaving Biel out and the role unfilled.

The setback comes just one week out from the start of filming and a few days out from an official press conference slated for Tuesday where Jackman and Prime Minister Julia Gillard will herald the beginning of shooting on the $80 million blockbuster.

"Obviously the director would like to fill that role as soon as possible given the film starts shooting in a week," said a source close to the flick.

"At this stage they're very close to a deal with a new actress."

It's understood a non-American actress - with a slightly lower profile than Biel - is now the frontrunner, raising the possibility a local actress will fill the role.

Biel's exit from the project came as somewhat of a surprise to those surrounding the project, with Justin Timberlake's fiance widely tipped as a certainty for the physical part.

Asked recently at the annual Comic-Con event in San Diego if she had signed on for the flick, Biel said: "That's not totally true. It's a little too early to say."

There was a similar turn of events in 2007, when Biel was in lengthy talks with Warner Bros to play the superhero Wonder Woman in a Justice League of America movie.

I have a feeling I know who it might be. I figured they didn't want anyone outshining Jackman regarding star power like the last one.

Don't write a check you can't cash. She's not in it, the rumors were false. Deadline.com blows.
It wasn't a rumor. She was in negotiations, and now she's not. The last thing Deadline does is blow. :whatever:

Wonder how big of a splash this is going to be, who in the media is going, and if any of the co-stars will be there also.

Svetlana Khodchenkova in Talks to Play Viper in THE WOLVERINE
by Adam Chitwood

Well that was fast. With production on The Wolverine set to begin in a matter of weeks, director James Mangold was closing in on his female lead.

Jessica Biel was offered the role of Viper early last week, but we subsequently reported that talks between Biel and 20th Century Fox broke down and she would no longer be taking the role. Now, just a couple of days later, it appears that Svetlana Khodchenkova has entered talks to take over the part opposite Hugh Jackman. Hit the jump for more.

News of Khodchenkova’s involvement comes via Twitch, who reports that the actress is now in talks for the role and is expected to close the deal quickly. The Russian actress is mostly known for her work in Russia, but she appeared last year in the espionage drama Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.

The character of Viper is said to be of Eastern European decent and has a complex relationship with Wolverine that includes, at one point, a sham marriage.

On location work on The Wolverine will be done in Japan, while stage work will be shot in Australia. We recently reported a number of Japanese additions to the cast, including Hiroyuki Sanada (The Last Samurai), Hal Yamanouchi (The Way Back), Tao Okamoto and Rila Fukushima. The film’s villain, Harada (aka The Silver Samurai) will be played by Will Yun Lee (Die Another Day). As you’ve probably surmised, the story follows the comicbook arc from Chris Claremont and Frank Miller that finds Logan as an outsider in Japan.

Well, I never saw Tinker Tailor, but she fits the bill nationality wise.
Oh yeah, and also...hot

Well, it wasn't who I thought. I figured that Biel would be sharing top billing with Jackman if she came on board, and I doubt most Aussies even know who this chick is.

Good enough for me. She's pretty, unique looking, and if she was in TTSS, that gives her more credibility than Biel.

Oh! I got it..
She looks like the Ilsa from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
sorry, it was bothering me, she looked sorta familiar

she seems way better for the role

since she is actually European like the character

I'm okay with this, as Jessica Biel seemed like an awkward casting decision to me.

They chooce someone who can become character of Viper. Also remember Viper Is the Silver Samurai's lover In this.

It's clear they are selling this as Hugh Jackman's film and not bringing in another celebrity to challenge Jackman for star of film.

She had a small role in TTSS but she seems okay from what I saw from her, I'm just indifferent towards Biel.

Just like the last film...

Also, with an $80 mill budget, they can't afford any big names.
