LOL!

I knew Darren was making a mistake doing business with Fox, Arad, and Rothman on a Marvel superhero film.

I knew he would regret it. Glad he got the hell out of there before the crap hit the fan!

Oy vey!

Here comes Bryan Singer to the rescue?

Ugh!

Bryan Singer is doing Jack the Giant Killer next anyway so. :o

1) Sucks that Arronofsky left
2) It doesnt really seem Fox's fault

Aaaaaaaand no longer interested. :o

*Reads news...*

*Kills himself*

I don't care for the film anymore.

Well... I was looking forward to see what Aronofsky would bring to the table. Hopefully the next director will make the movie worth while.

If anyone for one second thinks that Aronofsky is leaving because he "doesn't want to leave his family" you are kidding yourself. There is NO QUESTION some behind the scenes studio vs. director stuff happened here. No question.

1) Aronofksy is single but has a kid.
2) DA knew he was filming in Japan the whole time he signed for this film.
3) He hinted in an interview that there were "discussions" about whether to have the Japanese scenes in Japanese. Translation: He wanted the scenes in Japanese and the studio wanted them in English.

This is a disaster for this film and I know have ZERO reason to care. Good luck making a third straight (and possibly fourth straight) awful X-Men film Fox.

lol i love how people are blaming Fox for this.... even though DA has pulled this crap with other studios as well... and if it was fox DA would not try again with wolverine after being attached to x-men...

if anything Fox should be commended for giving this guy another chance at such a different genre than he's used to lol

he probably waited til now so as not to give himself negative oscar buzz or w/e...

Just heard about the news.

Very bad. I'm sure its connected to the recent tragedy in Japan but what a shame he had to step down.

Good thing is I'm sure there are other really good directors out there but Darren was a really good catch.

Oh well. At least I still got First Class baby!

Yep. Fox and Rothman started to play around with Darrens vision and he would have none of it. Plus he had family issues.

It's over......it's all over now. :oldrazz:

Damn...I had a really long day and come home to this. I'm disappointed for sure as I had high hopes for how Aronofsky was going to handle the film and he was a solid choice. I don't doubt Hugh is still wanting to return (as he's still looking big) but I'm curious as to who they'll get as a replacement now.

Funny enough, David Slade was up for The Wolverine and is now directing Daredevil.

It's obviously FOX's fault. And I no longer give a **** about this movie unless the footage looks like gold. FOX won't let directors do what they envision, they're like one giant piece of Spinosaurus ****!

DA's statement was just a way to sound nice. Don't be fooled. And now the chances that the film will be any good are over. Mediocrity at best now.

well i guess here comes another three months of crazy director rumors...
starting of course with guillermo del toro as he appearently is rumored for everything...

Fox has always chosen the most random directors for x-men so im not gonna bother getting my hopes up or guess who's next in line.

Bryan Singer
Gavin Hood
Brett Ratner
Mathew Vaughn
Darren A.
... all odd choices

they were so close to shooting too...the script was set.

Honestly, Aronofsky can be more artsy fartsy than necessary. I may be in the minority but my gut tells me that Wolverine may have dodged a bullet. Still looking forward to this film because the story will be the Miller/Claremont classic. I'd tell Aronofsky to take a hike before I'd give total control to him that's for sure.

I don't know what to say about that Cinemablend article, that doesn't really sound like Aronofsky, he had problems before and was willing to negotiate, especially with The Fountain so it's kind of weird that with this movie he's demanding total control, because one thing that drew him to this project is that for this movie everyone was willing to do their best to make the best movie that they can instead of Aronofsky fighting for his vision throughout the whole development of the project.

Right now he and his company Protozoa Pictures still have the 2-year contract with Fox to develop and produce movies for them so it's probably certain that his next project will be for either Fox or Searchlight, but then wouldn't they want to drop the contract if he was not willing to negotiate for The Wolverine that maybe he won't do it either in the future. Nevertheless we won't know for sure if the official reason Aronofsky is the real reason he left unless he makes it clear in the future, or not.

This has Fox written all over it. This is just BS spin control to make the split look amicable. No way was Fox going to give him complete creative control and they once again push out the door someone who would have made a good movie. Am I shocked? No. Am I sad? Yes.

The day Fox stops making movies is the day we all benefit.

There was a time when directors had full control over their movies. But then "Heaven's Gate" came out...

The Wolvrine? I never heard of this till now. This is a new Wolvierine film? Sequel to Origins?

Well, it's suppose to be not connected to Origins and it's based on the popular Wolverine comic that Claremont and Miller was involved.

They should just cancel this movie and move on with X-Men 4!

1 prequel movie of Wolverine is ENOUGH!
