Who WOULDN'T want to play a villian in Batman 3?

No, he does a good job when he has a good, interesting role. He is perfect as those kooky, slightly unhinged characters. And when he was the actual bad guy for a while in Face/Off he was brilliantly disturbed. There is just something about him that makes me think he could be a brilliant comic book villain.
But granted, I dunno bout a Bat-villain.
The problem with Cage is that it's like he just doesn't care anymore, he just turns up, says his lines, get's the pay check and goes home, and on top of that he continuously chooses crap roles, either that or that's all he's being offered. His name is unfortunately now synonymous with bad films, and he doesn't seems to want to do anything about it. To me, he comes across as someone who's lost the desire to act, and frankly as good as he can be (or was), a person like that needs to stay as far away from this series as possible.
Or Batman 3 can be to Nick Cage what Wrestler was to Mickey Rourke. You guys act all tough but you don't fool me. You're a mercurial bunch. Fickle and emotional. I bet if Cage was cast many of you would sing a different tune.
Wrestler was what it was to Rourke, because it was a personal story that reflected his own career. Rourke had a lot to prove, and he was dead-set on correcting things. It was bound to be a career-high performance.Or Batman 3 can be to Nick Cage what Wrestler was to Mickey Rourke.

Not really seeing how that translates with Nic and Batman...
Cage is settled. He's sitting pretty comfy. Doesn't matter if it's Nolan, because what exactly is going to incite him to give a performance of a lifetime? Certainly not because of his love for comics, as Ghost Rider proved.
See how reading comprehension works?![]()
Looks like you caught us out then. Yep the jig is up, we will love Cage if he's cast in Batman 3.
And anyone using the term "supervillain" and claiming to be a comic nerd should be shot.
I remember a lot of resistance when Ledger was cast, you know, since he was the ''gay cowboy guy'' and a teenybopper actor before that.
"What's the worst tagline of all time?"
Starring: Nicolas Cage
Bale has never done performances as bad as Cage has done in films like the Wicker Man and Ghost Rider. Ever. I'm pretty sure very few actors actually have. And even if they have, Cage is even worse for it because he has shown he can act which makes what he does now basically purposeful torture of the audience.
And Brando did indeed go downhill later in his career. That expression applies for current casting though. I wouldn't have been as excited for a Brando film in the 90s as I would had in previous decades. Thats a fact. Now that his career is finished its easy to look at his entire career but when it comes to being cast in a film now there is such a thing as going down the tubes/jumping the shark/whatever. Cage is currently down the tubes so I am really not excited at the idea of him being in this film just like I wouldn't have been that excited at 90s Brando being in a film.
Besides, I don't think an actor that NEEDS a good movie/good director in order to give a good performance is probably that great anyway. Like I said, if Cage is in a bad movie he is often the worst part of that movie.
