People blaming Cage for Ghost Rider? Hold on, did he write the script and direct produce and act?

I thought he was the best part about Ghost Rider. Yea he did ham it up, but it is like the Tommy Lee Jones/Batman Forever situation. They worked with what they were given and gave us some pretty over the top, cheesy yet enjoyable performances. Cage is at his best when he is playing those quirky roles, he is a pretty weird, eccentric guy when you think about it. I would love to see him as a villain, maybe not in this franchise or in any Batman films but I think Cage could be a great bad guy.

He's too 'big name' in a way. Like remember Batman and Robin wear Clooney was playing Batman but in reality is was more like George playing George Clooney as Batman. Same thing would happen with Cage you wouldn't be watching The Riddler...youd watching Nick cage in a Riddler costume.

It should be a Batman movie and not a Nick cage movie.

I'm pretty sure I heard that Cage added a lot of ideas to Ghost Rider. And most of them were the stupid ones, like the Jellybean thing and him watching cartoons. So yes, he deserves a chunk of the blame.

And Tommy Lee Jones hammed it up because he was playing second fiddle to Jim Carrey's Riddler and he wanted to stand out. He wasn't given the order to act goofy, that was all him. And he ended up being one of the worst parts of the film for me, just like Cage in Ghost Rider. I didn't find Cage in Ghost Rider enjoyable, just cringe-worthy.

I think if they were to make him Clayface and use that characters orgin story from BTAS that it could work, the whole washed up actor losing his grip on reality looking for any edge to help him maintain is the kind of role Cage could go to town on. Provided that Nolan would go FX heavy on one of the villians, if it's going to be like the rest(strongly grounded in reality) then I think Black Mask works.

But I'd really rather have him no where near it.

That's a good suggestion, probably the best thus far. I don't think Nolan would use Clayface, but Cage could do well with that unhinged type of role.

Cage hasn't done anything well since Adaptation and has done so many misses that I would rather this just be laughed out.

He's the actor I like least in Hollywood and has pretty much used all he had like Costner did. Costner was way better actor in my opinion and yes I know Cage won an Oscar but seriously...Bangkok Dangerous, GR, Wicker Man, Knowing, Next...no thanks...

Grant it, I'll give you some credit. For some of his work I like but notice in my post how I said he hasn't done a good film in a long time...since Adaptation. His time has come and gone. He lost it. He's like a worse version of Al Pacino now...you just don't know if he's gonna bring it or not. I would rather not take my chances. Seriously I can't even be nice about this...if you think he should be in this next Batman flick than I got nothing nice to say. Maybe he could have been in Schumachers.

No I wasn't. The "How'd it get burned, how'd it get burned, how'd it get burned, how'd it get burned" line is some of the best acting I've seen him do. He balances the fine line b/w being dramatic and showing instability which reveals everything that's going on with the character - trying to figure out what the heck is going on with his daughter's dissapearance connected to a bizarre cult on a strange island. The scenario is so ludicrous that under normal circumstances he would burst out laughing. This is combined with his concern and instability and it all comes through during that one scene. Awesome.

Seriously, that is the third worst major production I have ever seen besides Battlefield Earth and Batman & Robin. You have to be joking bc I cannot stress this anymore that he is so laughably bad in that movie. There is also a youtube clip that has the worst acting scenes in movies and he has like 4 from that movie. Wickerman's remake was an absolute catastrophe compared to the original. If you like it, which I still think you are joking, you need to check out some of that movies reviews. Whether you care about reviews or not there is no denying that 90% of critics hated it for a reason.
