Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2

I played the demo last night, and all I can say is ZOMG! So far, I can definitely say it's everything I'd wanted in a sequel to NG/NG∑. I never played the original version of NG2, but I didn't notice any of the things that I frequently heard people complain about the original, such as the excessive amounts of gore (there's still blood and dismemberment, but it's not ridiculous), frustrating camera, and unfair difficulty curve. I played it on the harder setting, and while it still provided plenty of challenge it was not hopelessly difficult for me to overcome. This is definitely a game I will be picking up ASAP.

Also, the whole boob shaking thing has been kind of sensationalized by Tecmo's marketing, I think. At best it's an easter egg, and it's not even one you're likely to activate by accident. You have to shake the controller pretty forcefully for it to happen, and after a second of "lol, her boobs are bouncing for no reason," you go back to the game and forget it's there.

It wasn't as much that the curve is uneven, but they tried too hard to be fast paced like something like DMC, and it just didn't match up with that in some parts mixed with the awful camera.

Just downloaded the demo, will probably play it later tonight

I'm downloading the demo as I type this!!!!!!! I can't wait!

What a lot of content for just a just a demo. Two playable characters with their own decently long single player chunk, and three team missions.

Took me awhile to readjust myself to the game, but once I did it was fine. Camera still leaves a lot to be desired at times, though, like a lot. Ayane plays different enough from Ryu that it doesn't just feel like a different skin. That new mini-boss fight was lame, though, I hope in the full game there's more to it than that. Team mission actually seemed pretty fun.

Overall, I enjoyed it. Looking forward to Tuesday for this and Kingdom Hearts

When you first pop Ninja Gaiden 2 Sigma into your PlayStation 3 this fall, get comfortable -- there's going to be a wait before you can play. But don't worry, Tecmo and Team Ninja plan on making it as entertaining and painless as possible.
Speaking to a Tecmo rep at a recent Sony Holiday Preview event in New York City, we were told that Ninja Gaiden 2 Sigma would require the dreaded "mandatory install." While it's unclear how much space it would eat up on your hard drive, we were told it could take up to seven minutes.
But here's the cool part -- Team Ninja plans to keep you entertained the entire time. While the game is installing, you'll be treated to a digital version of a Ninja Gaiden 2 Sigma comic book, complete with sound effects. Written by Team Ninja, the comic book acts as a prequel to the game, and should mask the seven minute wait nicely. Could this trump Metal Gear Solid 4's "Let's watch Snake smoke" install screens?
The comic book is the digital version of the physical book that ships with GameStop's exclusive Ninja Gaiden 2 Sigma Collector's Edition, which should run about 30 pages. Oh, and if you get up to make a sandwich and miss the install, don't worry -- you'll be able to go back and view the digital comic book at any time

A big sigh feels the best response.

Here's how to get the unlockable costumes for the characters; 4 for Ryu and Rachel, 2 for Ayane and Momiji with pictures of most of them

Giving you a comic to read during the install is actually a pretty cool idea, and hopefully it works well to make the wait less annoying. I mean, the Snake smoking install screens in MGS4 were somewhat entertaining thanks to the little captions, but let's face it-- we were watching an old guy smoke for 5 minutes every time the theater changed, and that was pretty bad. At least with NG∑2 they're giving us something fun to do while we wait.

I picked up my collector's edition today, I haven't played it yet, (I want to finish MUA2 before I start it) but it's a really nice package with some nice goodies!!!:awesome::up: I'm gonna play the demo tonight to get a taste of it, since I already have it downloaded, before I go full force on the final build, it's gonna be a fun ride!!!:D:up:

Didn't get to pick it up today, apparently the 29th was only the ship date for GS. I'll probably pick it up later today or tomorrow sometime

Kind of cool idea, but the install, not so much. I'd give up the comic if they put more work into it to drop the install all together.

Got it, and have been playing it a bit. General thoughts:

-The camera does feel improved, but still has plenty to be desired. I'm not nearly as frustrated with it than I was with the original release, but it still has it's fair share of problems.

-The graphics look a little sharper than the original

-The new giant bosses that I've fought thus far aren't so great. They aren't bad or anything, but nothing particularly special. The two I've played were a little too recycled, I hope they get more varied as we go along.

-It definitely feels easier than the original release. It's not 'easy' or anything, but I've found myself having much less trouble with this one. Admittedly that could just be because I'm more adjusted to it.

-Played a level with Momiji, and liked her. She's not totally different from Ryu, but feels different enough not to just be a female skin of him. Not sure how much we play of her in the main story, but I didn't mind the interlude at all. Not played as Ayane or Rachel, yet

-Story, cinematic and voice acting still suck horribly

-The comic was kind of crappy, all it tells us is how Joe got hurt, which of course no one will care about anyway since the story is balls

-The amount of loading is a problem. It's not too much more than the original version, but with the literal year between the two versions coupled with a mandatory 3GB install the loading should not crop up as much as it does

-I've only played two Team Missions, but I enjoyed both a lot more than I expected to.

-The pre-order Ninja suit I gut for pre-ordering at GS looks great.

That's all I've got for now. I've been enjoying it

Weird, the GT review said the instal cut the loading times in half.

The loading between levels might be a little shorter, but I don't think they're cut in half, the original's loading wasn't that bad. A lot of the loading within the game, in between item screens, weapon swaps, etc. are roughly the same

Some other stuff I've noticed:

-With the bow you now have infinite ammo, and can move while shooting.

-As noted the over the top blood and gore has been toned down significantly, and has been replaced by this blue mist stuff, which is pretty stupid. However, no where near as stupid as the outright ridiculous of blood amounts in the original, so I guess I should be glad we got the least stupid of the two options.

-There's now an option to hold R1 to 'sense' the direction you need to be going in. Maybe it sounds elitist for me to say, but I have no idea who in the bloody hell would need that feature in this game. NGII is pretty linear

Think I should complete NGS1 first? I haven't gotten past a Rachel level.

I don't think it matters too much. The story is pretty much unrelated and so pointless it wouldn't make a difference if you just want to start NGII.

Few more thoughts as I've progressed:

-Played as Rachel, and she is slow as ****. It makes sense I suppose. She's carrying a huge hammer, a machine gun, and a pair of supersized boobs that must weigh her down.

-As I mentioned, Team Missions are way funner than I expected. However, just to throw this out for anyone else after you progress past the first level your AI partner simply will not cut it. On that first level it's not too bad, but when you go on you'll start seeing 90/10% ratios. If you plan to keep going on, I strongly suggest you play with a live partner.
