GTA to whack Wii? Source: A lengthy article on MTV News.

What we heard: At its pre-Electronic Entertainment Expo press conference in May, Microsoft stunned attendees by announcing that Grand Theft Auto IV would be released on the Xbox 360 the same day and date it arrives on the PlayStation 3. Though Sony reps would later play it down, the development meant that the long exclusivity window that prior GTA games had on the PlayStation 2 would not survive the next-generation console transition.
But while Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas all appeared on the Xbox, no GTA game ever made it to the GameCube. In fact, the only GTA games to make it to a Nintendo platform were the handheld top-down titles Grand Theft Auto (Game Boy Color, 1999), Grand Theft Auto 2 (GBC, 2000), and Grand Theft Auto Advance (Game Boy Advance, 2004).
However, now comes word that the Wii might be carjacked by the GTA franchise. Speaking to MTV News at last week's Wii press conference in New York City, Nintendo of America president and COO Reggie Fils-Aime revealed that the Mario Factory is in talks with Take-Two Interactive, parent of GTA publisher Rockstar Games. "I'll be spending some time later today with the folks over at Take-Two to see what type of support they can give our console," he said. So far, Take-Two has only expressed interest in using Wii's motion-sensing functions for a baseball game.
Though he didn't mention any specific titles to MTV, the outspoken executive did say that Nintendo wants the Wii to have more adult-oriented content than the GameCube did. That console's catalog was dominated by family-friendly offerings, although it had several notable M-rated games, such as Killer7 and Resident Evil 4.
"The fact is there will be M-rated content on the Wii console," said Fils-Aime. "EA has already announced that they're bringing [the GTA-like crime game] The Godfather to our console. And we want every single best-selling game to be available on Wii. Whatever that content is."
The official story: Fils-Aime's comments have ignited a firestorm of speculation among prospective Wii buyers and GTA addicts. However, they are not official confirmation of plans for a Wii GTA--or any particular Take-Two title for the platform. Requests for comment sent to Nintendo, Take-Two, and Rockstar had not been returned as of press time.
Bogus or not bogus?: Not bogus that Take-Two and Nintendo are talking. As for GTA on the Wii? The once-unthinkable notion now appears to be a possibility.

I think he did die & left his account here to his brother or something if you saw his latest postings in the Superman 360 thread :p

You guys killed WHF :(

Anyways, Nintendo needs to change it's policies regarding 3rd parties if it wants more M-rated content.

Nintendo has changed it's policies. Nintendo has a very healthy relationship with Sega, Namco, and Capcom. It's repaired its relationship with Square Enix. And Ubi Soft is in full support of the Wii.

If SE were in full support of Wii, we'd not be seeing PS3 exclusive Final Fantasy's from them. We are. Getting them to throw a bone like a CC isn't a "repaired relationship". Namco....does what exactly? Capcom ported everything exclusive they ever gave Nintendo, that's not really what Nintendo needs either, and as a former Sega fanboy, I'm sorry to say that Sega support these days actually hurts your game library. And that's not what I meant anyways. Ever since the SNES days, Nintendo has been more hands on than most about how much violence makes it's way onto their consoles. Go play Mortal Kombat on the SNES and then the Genesis for instance. That is what they need to change if they want to see more M-Rated games, not "repairing" relationships with 3rd parties that do them no good anyways. Or better yet, if they want to see more M-rated games, they should make them. No one buys a Nintendo console for 3rd party games, they buy them for Nintendo games, and Nintendo is one of the largest and most talented publishers/developers around, so why not?

I was talking about Reggie. And we already know that the real WHF is already dead.

Nintendo is also getting exclusive Final Fantasies from Square Enix. Final Fantasy I, II, IV, V, and VI have been ported to the Game Boy Advance. Final Fantasy III is being remade for the Nintendo DS. The Final Fantasy XII sequel is being made for the Nintendo DS. And the Crystal Chronicles series is exclusive to Nintendo. Nintendo is also getting the Legend of Mana series and Dragon Quest games made for the Nintendo DS and Wii.

But overall, the reason why the main Final Fantasy games (VII-XIII) are Playstation exclusives is because overall, the Final Fantasy series is considered to be a Playstation series, just like Metal Gear Solid.

Do you know how totally irrelevant DS support is when it doesn't translate into Wii support? The thread is about them wanting more M-rated content on the Wii support, and all you can do is say "well look at the kind of DS support they have"! I'm buying a Wii on day one, but to pretend that they don't need some major policy changes to attract 3rd parties is insane.

You can just imagine what game the wiimote would be used for if Wii get's R-rated games.

A sexual game.

They have changed their policies. But not that I care. Very few third party titles can compare with Nintendo first party titles.

And that's why third parties don't do well on Nintendo systems, and why third parties have cut Nintendo out of their line-up, generation after generation.

The Wii will eventually lose some third-party support too.

What can we credit this information to? Your crystal ball? Or perhaps your star chart? :whatever:

15 years of constantly repeating gaming history that Nintendo is intent on ignoring?
