No Confirmation Yet, Is TIH2 Going to Happen?

If TIH had enjoyed the same box office figures as Iron Man, I am sure a sequel would have been announced within a week of it's opening as was the case with Iron Man.

Anyone think it might be possible that since TIH is nowhere near Iron Man's box office, MS might scrap ideas for a direct sequel and save Hulk and possibly the Leader for The Avengers?

I'm praying they don't save Hulk for Avengers. This character deserves his own movies before he becomes part of an assemble. Marvel knew going in that TIH was going to have to struugle with the past movie, and whatnot. Let's hope the b.o doesn't make them scrap ideas for a TIH 2 movie.

I'm starting to think that no news is bad news, as if this movie had made 70 mill+ this weekend they'd (Marvel) be talking about it openly.

I'd love for them to annouce TIH2 and for it to be released within the next 3 years but I have a feeling they're going to use the avengers to push Hulks popularity moreso and then make TIH2.

Now that The Incredible Hulk is Marvel's second bona fide hit (although it won't do Iron Man numbers, the film should be easily profitable), Louis Letterier suddenly finds his Gallic accent much more in demand in Hollywood. And he's not wasting any time capitalizing on it, not even waiting for Marvel to attempt to Favreau him - he's in negotiation for another film, this time at Summit Entertainment, aka the Company That Will Rule Hollywood*.

The movie is called Strays, and The Happening opened well enough that Summit comfortable calling it an 'eco-thriller.' The Hollywood Reporter says the story, by the guy who wrote Turistas, is about 'a group of young consultants on a business trip to Russia mysteriously wake up in an abandoned and radioactive city and fight to survive the deadly obstacles in between them and safety.' Chernobyl porn!

There's no timeline on Strays just yet, so this could be what Letterier does before Hulk 2, or it could be after Hulk 2, or he could just not be brought back for Hulk 2.

* they're making Twilight, the tween vampire movie that should make more money than Jesus, although taking into account that Jesus wasn't really in a money-making field.

Marvel is locked up from now to 2011, so it's not like a TIH sequel would be out anytime remotely soon.

I don't know if it is quite realistic that they'll have the Avengers ready by July 2011. It might get pushed back to 2012, thus opening a spot for another Hulk.

I am wishing there is, I love TIH, alot of my firensd do too, I seen it 3 time going to it again. I Have a feeling it isn't doing good because of Ang Lee's Hulk: what a crap. But I hope this one gets a Sequel. I want to see round 4 and Leader.

why do people instantly gravitate towards the negative? It seems like some people here have strange motivations:

1) they like (TDK, IM, DC) so let's trash hulk
2) they like hulk, but they buy into the negativity of group #1
3) they like hulk and overcompensate for the negativity of groups #1 and #2

Sure it's fun to theorize and guess, but until we know something for sure that's all we're doing.

I love Hulk and think the new film is good but I am trying to be realistic.
Iron Man 2 was announced within one week of Iron Man opening.
I'd say it is looking unlikely that TIH2 is going to be released before The Avengers, if ever.

I was not motivated by any of the above 3 reasons you stated, but rather because I wanted to know what others thought.

The drop isn't bad, and it's appearing the film will have some legs (plus get a July 4th boost)... if you check out boxofficemojo's Hulk vs. Hulk showdown, 2008 Hulk was outgrossed each of it's first 5 days by the 2003 Hulk, Silver Surfer, and so on, but each day since it has grossed more and widened that gap. It's looking like domestically it'll end up around $140mil or so, so combined with foreign gross and what dvd sales will be, it'll turn a profit. Plus, it served it's purpose of breaking free of the 2003 Hulk's stigma.

So in my opinion, I'm thinking we'll see more Incredible Hulk.

I was really hoping to see Tim Blake Nelson play a supervillain with a talkative intellect. It would have been hilarious. Unfortunately after a small opening and a 60% drop showing weak wom, I say the sequel ain't happening.
