Since I really don't think any villain could top the hype of Ledger's Joker, what about a movie set right after a catastrophic earthquake in Gotham?

From the product description of the official novel:
Now the battlefield has changed. Leveled by a massive earthquake that left thousands dead and millions more wounded, Gotham City has been transformed into a lawless wilderness -- a No Man's Land -- where the survivors are turning against one another, and where the city's protectors are torn by a crisis that may consume them all.

That's people said when Nicholson played the character 20 years plus later.... People are the same only difference is actor's name changes.

You want a movie about No man's Land, I rather see something different.

I think Nolan would rather have the drama come from the characters and not a plot device.

Ha! Like BB and TDK weren't plot-driven!!!
Do you have any idea of how is a character-driven movie?
I can name you just a few, because the majority of those are pretty boring!

Fictitious:
Revolver
Revolutionary Road

Based on real stories:
Into the Wild
Der Untergang

To clarify, the action in Nolan's two Batman movies comes from the characters' personalities and behaviors, not an artificial plot device like an earthquake.

I think the addition of Catwoman would bring in a great deal of hype.

I would rather see a continuation of the themes explored in the first two films. Now with the mob having disappeared and the streets being overrun by freaks. Batman being the number 1 public enemy and having to deal with the crazies that've come out of the woodwork, at the same time having some new political figures in gotham that are very corrupt and know that Gordon is bat's allie and trie to take him out. This could work for someone like bane to drop in and really mess things up.

I prefer the story be character driven rather than event driven. Reminds me of Raymond Benson's third Bond novel "High Time To Kill" where much of the story unfolds after a plane crashes in the mountains containing the Mcguffin.
