No Man's Sky

I especially like the part where he talks about a lot of developers releasing a seemingly endless stream of preview material, and there being few surprises left by the time their game is released. The way around this as a consumer is to not watch or read every little tidbit you can get your hands on, but I admire the No Man's Sky team for taking a more proactive approach and only showing a small amount of their game prior to launch.

A TRULY OPEN UNIVERSE

Whether a distant mountain or a planet hanging low on the horizon, you can go there. You can fly seamlessly from the surface of a planet to another, and every star in the sky is a sun that you can visit.

Where you’ll go and how fast you’ll make your way through this universe is up to you. It’s yours for the taking.

EXPLORATION IS SEEING THINGS NO ONE HAS EVER SEEN BEFORE

Explore uncharted solar systems and catalogue unique new forms of life. Every planet’s landscape is different from the next, and populated by species never before encountered.

Find ancient artefacts that could reveal the secrets behind the universe.

Choose whether to share your discoveries with other players. They’re exploring the same vast universe in parallel; perhaps you’ll make your mark on their worlds as well as your own.

SURVIVE ON A DANGEROUS FRONTIER

Every solar system, planet, ocean and cave is filled with danger, and you are vulnerable.

Your ship and suit are fragile, and every encounter can test your skills to the limit. From dogfighting in space to firstperson combat on a planet’s surface, you will face foes ready to overwhelm you.

And one mistake could see you lose everything. In No Man’s Sky, every victory and every defeat has lasting consequences.

BUILD FOR AN EPIC JOURNEY

Whether you want to explore and see things never before discovered, or directly set course for the centre of the galaxy, how you play No Man’s Sky is up to you.

But you cannot take your voyage lightly. You’ll need to prepare.

Collect precious resources on the surfaces of planets and trade them for the ships, suits and equipment that will take you to your destiny in the stars.

This is an awesome technical achievement, but I'm worried the gameplay might get old fast.

For such a large game I have a fear it's going to feel super empty.

I think they said it's virtually impossible to run into other players, given the sheer size of the universe/galaxy/whatever.

I *think* there might be NPC humans, but I'm not sure if you'll be able to see them directly, or if they're just assumed to be operating the other ships.

It's not like there's a heavy plot. This is going to be a great game to just unwind with after a long week of work.

If you plough your spaceship into the side of an asteroid in No Man’s Sky, as your vision fades to black and breath leaves your body, motivational quotes appear on screen. Think death in Call of Duty, and you’re on the right track. These quotes will include words from science-fiction writers, philosophers, and Twitter man of wisdom Jaden Smith.

*snickers at "only on playstation"*

How can they get away with saying that when it's also on PC?

That's like, the best video game cover I've seen in a long time.

have you never heard the term "console exclusive"?
Yes I have; and the cover doesn't say that it is console exclusive. It implies that you can only get it on the Playstation. Straight up lying.

No it isn't. For the people who play specifically on consoles, playstation is the only place to play the game.

And for people who only play on PS4 it is the only place to play the game. They should really say exclusive to PS4 in France as for PS4 owners who are based in France and banned from purchasing goods from outside the country or leaving the country etc, the only place to play the game is PS4 in France.

60% of the time it works 100% of the time! :woot:

lol what I am saying is if I am someone who plays games on consoles, "only on playstation" is true. the fact that it is coming to PC does not matter to a consumer like me. and tens of millions of people like me exist.
