No mention of the Pyms at the Marvel panel. Has me quite concerned. BW and Hawkeye being included BEFORE the Pyms has me concerned. BW as the only female in that testosterone driven sausagefest, yuppers, has me worried. What do you folks think?

They need to save some characters and story for the movie. They also didn't mention any villains, doesn't mean there won't be any.

Agreed. They also have a long time to make more announcements prior to the films release. Including next years Comic Con. Can't give it all up out front.

Ant-Man is already confirmed to not be in this movie. That means Wasp is out too.

Look you can't have EVERY character. You do want a coherent story that actually allows every character to shine don't you?

The 8 you saw on stage are who will be in this film. 4 Avengers and 4 SHIELD agents. There's no need for anymore.

Only one confirmed to be out is Ant-Man. Nothing saying the Pyms are out, nor Giant-Man and Wasp.:whatever:

If Agent Coulson is presented as a major character, they have no right to claim there wasn't room for the Pyms.

Their budget is probably all spread thin as it is...

Yeah, because that's what really gives me insomnia.

If the Pyms aren't in, then they might as well have War Machine as a main character.

I have to say the "no mention" was my one disappointment. I hope Hank & Janet are indeed in the movie and, pun intended, their parts aren't to "small".

And Aztec, I have to agree with Majik1387 on the no Ant-Man annoucement. I immediately thought about Giant-Man, Yellow Jacket, or just Hank Pym as himself are still possible. The whole anouncement could be a miss-direction. I certainly hope so. Hank along with Jan are original charter members.

Hawkeye and BW were established villians back then and are less deserving but who knows what Jess & company have in store for us?

Is a petition in order for Pym support?

They Pyms simply aren't as well known to casual fans as they cast they've assembled... and their powers would require additional effects treatment that characters like Hawkeye and Black Widow would not.

Yeah, I'm not expecting to see them, nor do I particularly need to. The cast is large enough already.

Why not title your petition:

"We the Undersigned Want to Make Sure There are WAY Too Many Characters in This Film"

Iron Man 2 was excellent, IMHO, but there were definitely times where there was too much going on. As a result Whiplash and Black Widow were not developed to their fullest potential. There are significantly more characters in The Avengers already, and significantly more IMPORTANT characters I might add, there's no reason to add more. We already have 8!!!!

Fanboys need to kill this over-saturation urge that seems to be ingrained in them. Trust me, you will be the first ones to complain when the film doesn't work.

Will the Pyms cameo as scientists? Maybe and that would be fine, but anything more than that would be a colossal error.

No, the colossal error would be to pass up on what the Pym's bring to Avengers history. And the ongoing sub-plot of Hank gradually losing it.
No Hank, no Ultron ( coolest Avengers villian ever ), no Ultron, no Vision.
Talk about a colossal mistake

They have no obligation to perfectly replicate the Avengers' history with this film... and it's not easy to make such a heavy-hitter laden ensemble production like they are here. We knew there would be sacrifices along the way, and the Pyms wound up being among them.

It's always possible they'll get their own film somewhere down the line... But in this case the studio had to put together a team based on popularity/name recognition and power balance. And they did just fine.

1) They may get their own film.

2) There will be a sequel if it succeeds.

3) This is NOT the comics. It doesn't need to follow the same storyline. In fact it hasn't so far. Who's to say that Tony Stark couldn't create Ultron?

Do you want a compelling story and well developed characters or a shameless cameofest? If you want the former you will have to settle for less characters. (Not that 8 is really "less" of anything).

Well said Iamlegend.

People really gotta get over this. Guess what, Ant-Man's getting his own film, then there'll be sequels to the Avengers and you can bet your ass him and Wasp will be in those when the time comes.

i agree Happy. I just wonder though if the Pyms will be Giant-man and Wasp and Scott lang will be Ant-man. Because from what i understand in Edgar Wright's Ant-Man Hank Pym will be Ant-man then the mantle is passed to Scott Lang.

I say have them as cameos in the first movie & then have them in full time roles in Avengers 2, since Hulk & possibly Widow will be gone.

I couldn't care less for Ant-man, but isn't Edgar Wright still attached to Ant-man. He did talk about the film recently.
