Infinity War No More Thanos - The Scarlet Witch Thread

http://www.ibtimes.com/avengers-inf...lsen-isnt-pushing-scarlet-witch-movie-2668997

Scarlet Witch will appear in “Avengers: Infinity War” alongside plenty of other superheroes, but don’t expect her to headline her own Marvel movie. The actress said she isn’t trying to get a solo flick.

During an appearance on the podcast “Everything Iconic with Danny Pellegrino,” Olsen was asked about progress on a possible solo Scarlet Witch/Wanda Maximoff movie.

“We’re at ground zero,” she said. Marvel has never announced plans for a Scarlet Witch film. So far, Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) is the only female to officially have a solo movie, but a Black Widow movie is also reportedly in development.

“It’s definitely not something I’m pushing, and I don’t know if that’s something that they’re going to push for either,” she laughed.

Olsen didn’t sound interested in launching another Marvel movie franchise. However, the “Avengers: Infinity War” star and Vision actor Paul Bettany often jokingly toss around ideas for a Netflix TV show.

“Paul Bettany and I joke about having like a domestic television show on Netflix or something…It would just be like [2005 comic book series] ‘House of M,’ where Scarlet Witch goes bananas,” Olsen explained. “That’s what we joke about, but I don’t think any of those things are happening. But I’m happy that they haven’t, that I’m still around, and they still use me well. And that’s fine.”

Olsen was also asked about the X-Men joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Disney’s purchase of 20th Century Fox. Olsen doesn’t think it’s going to happen because of how Wanda’s backstory has been built.

“I don’t think so because we’ve gone so far to create a non-X-Men universe backstory for my character, and like now it’s the reason that I’m like connected to the Vision because the stone in his head is the stone that gave me my powers,” she said. “So we’ve really just kind of leaned into the stones, I feel like. So I don’t think so.”

She’s not opposed to the idea of an X-Men storyline, though. “However, if there were a Michael Fassbender being my daddy crossover, I would say yes, please. I would love to work with Fassbender,” Olsen emphasized.

It doesn’t sound like the Avengers really need an X-Men crossover right now. They’ve got their hands full with “Avengers: Infinity War.” The April 27 movie will show Thanos (Josh Brolin) terrorizing the universe while searching for the Infinity Stones. Scarlet Witch will be trying to protect her love interest Vision, who has the Mind Stone in his forehead.

Avengers: Infinity War Billboard Spotlights Scarlet Witch & Fans Love It

Sad to hear there are no plans for some kind of Scarlet Witch/Vision film. But there comments kinda make it sound like they both get out of Avengers 3 and 4 alive. For there to be the possibility of that. Who knows though. Haha, I still think Vision is going to die at this point in time and possibly Scarlet Witch too

The contrast between how she is treated in the MCU, where she is at least prominent if not on screen much, and the comics division's utter indifference to her, is very, very revealing.

I agree. I wish she had more presence in comics.

I've always been curious. Why is the title of this thread "No more Thanos"?

Too bad they never put the head piece on her in the MCU. I would have loved it.

I'm glad they left the head piece off, personally. I think it would look goofy.

9. SCARLET WITCH

If there’s going to be a wild card when facing the Mad Titan and his cohorts, it’ll be the Scarlet Witch. A potential contender for one of the strongest heroes in the MCU, she’s demonstrated a wide range of powers including mind control, force fields, and telekinesis. She hasn’t fully mastered her abilities yet, so there’s room for her to grow, but we’ve watched as she defeated the Vision all by herself in Captain America: Civil War. Additionally Scarlet Witch’s psionic abilities allow her to levitate and manipulate objects on a molecular level.

If Wanda Maximoff gets any kind of power-up and becomes like her comic book counterpart, then maybe she can alter reality enough to throw Thanos for a loop. It’s wishful thinking, but Thanos’ defeat will probably come from a more popular hero.

In the comics, Wanda, at one time, possessed vast reality warping powers + chaos magic. With three simple words—"No more mutants"—she managed to nullify the X-gene in the vast majority of mutants. Only a handful of them remained unaffected and thus more endangered as a species than ever before. Up until the recent and unexpected emergence of Hope Summers, there hadn't been a single mutant birth since the incident in question took place.

That storyline is misogynistic rubbish. Her Chaos Magic comes from Chthon, it has NOTHING TO DO WITH MUTANT POWERS, BENDIS AND CLAREMONT YOU TALENTLESS HACKS.

I know it comes from Chthon. So what?

I'm of two minds-- I get why the traditional outfit wouldn't work, but I would have loved for some cinematic reason for her to embrace a more theatrical, comic-booky look.

SW likely going Beast Mode.

Daaaaamn. Thanks for the info!

So glad to see that likely beast mode clip. Time for her to truly wreck some stuff!

I hate Bendis too. That House of M stuff should not exist in continuity.

I expect Vision & SW's bond to be a major foil in Thanos controlling the gauntlet.

Olsen looks incredible here. Legs for days...
