Age of Ultron No Strings Attached: James Spader is Ultron! - Part 1

Ultron is awesome because he can't die. He always finds his way back to go up against The Avengers. He's like the Joker of MCU.

So I have read that Ultron had intense romantic feelings for Scarlet Witch, is this true, hence why he seemed to care for her the most out of all the other characters in the film, and even explicitly instructed her to escape the city before it crashed into the Earth?

I only saw this once sooooo yea

"Weak" my ass...

Sorry but, I don't have to watch the movie again to know a good bit of this isn't true. For one, he did not kick Iron Mans ass, Iron Man beat him, Ultron was even beaten on the floor before Iron Man just blew his body up. He didn't kick Cap's ass either, Cap did very well and Ultron even ended up leaving the fight, after the fight Cap was fine, hardly an ass kicking. Ultron didn't create Vision either. The Korean doctor did, Ultron just put part of his mind into the body. Then he got it stolen from him like a chump and The Avengers woke it up. And he didn't really mess up Jarvis as Jarvis came back just fine and stopped Ultron getting the nuclear codes. I just found him a very underwhelming villain and such a disappointment. And how did he plant the seeds for CW and Planet Hulk exactly? Short answer, he really didn't.

I hope he comes back at some point so they can do him justice.

I think he does care about her a lot. People do pair the two. But I know that Scarlett Witch and The Vision are an item for a while.

Ultron was ****ing awesome in this. He's jab at Captain America was funny and very honest at the same time. And when he called Caps shield a "Frisbee".:funny:

Because he was joking too much and acted very childish.:o

I actually didn't mind either of those things, I liked his personality, he just didn't come across as a threat to me, like most MCU villains, they never present a believable threat to the heroes. Not once during the movie did I fear the heroes not winning or succeeding in stopping Ultron.

That was my problem, especially as in the comics he is a huge threat.

He said a Total of 5 jokes in 140 minutes for God's sake.

Forget it. Any humor at all is too much for some people, because its not about the actual contents of the movie. Its about the narrative, of Marvel Studios Telling Too Many Jokes.

I found AoU darker than the first, while still having Marvel's trademark tone. Maybe that's just me.

To be fair I didn't think he told that many jokes either. Most of the stuff he said happened to be funny I.e "the jab about Caps shield, oh for God's sake, guys wait". The actual jokes he told was about not being able to throw up and the omelette thing which were funny.lol It seems like some people don't know what a joke is.

The mocking of clichés in this movie was superb. Towards the end, Ultron was all business though.

Ultron was both sympathetic, funny and scary at points. And I'm glad Joss gave him personality.

And in a time and medium where you know exactly what to expect from evil robots that was so refreshing. A multi dimensional machine with the same qualities that he hates in us.

I'm perfectly content with the overall humor level in Marvel films but Ultron himself did not feel much at all like the character as I have known him most of my life and his Stark 2.0 personality is the primary reason why. There's no "narrative" other than I simply didn't enjoy Whedon's take on the character.

Terribly sorry to rock the big MCU boat. I know how a little criticism gets frowned upon around here but I'm afraid I must stick to my guns or I'd lose all respect for myself.

Well to be fair Stark is his creator in the MCU. Makes sense why he acts like him. If Pym was the creator, pretty sure he'd have acted like him. But fair enough.

Then I have a solution for you... You need to watch the movie again!

I think he does care about her a lot.
Well I mean, if I can recall correctly, she was the only character in the film that he was at least remotely kind to. Hell, he was a *****e to Klaw before he compared him to Stark

I would suggest overemphasis on Stark is a wider problem but that might get me lynched. :hehe:

Iron Man's popularity over all has earned him the place he has in the MCU, the other Avengers have moved up in their deserved prominence, especially Captain America, but Iron Man kicked it off, for a while he was the only active Super Hero in the universe, and really a super genius with near unlimited resources is the only person in a position to run the Avengers in the absence of Nick Fury, but he concedes the leadership to Captain America. Even if he doesn't always agree with him. Much like the comics.

I saw the movie 4 times in theaters and never got tired of Ultron. And to say raising a small continent off the ground to cause an extinction level event is non-threatening is a huge reach. If anything, it speaks to the strength of the Avengers (you know... Earth's Mightiest Heroes) that they were able to stop him. I never got the impression it was easy for them.

But of course they were going to win; that seems like a poor criticism.

But that doesn't mean I have to love it. Is that ok? Do I need to apply for a license or something? Maybe take an RDJ Smarm Appreciation class? I'm not taking anything away from anyone else by not drooling over every last detail.

I like the character (and RDJ) just fine, but Whedon's take was especially chattery and annoying, like he was trying way too hard.
