The Dark Knight Nolan needs more imagination.

I'm just tired of his hypocrisy.

He's saying Nolan's approach to Batman Begins was a freak-out knee-jerk reaction to Schumacher.

Well then isn't it true that Burton's goth nightmare was a freak-out knee-jerk reaction to Adam West? Because Burton's movie was just as much a personal re-envisioning of Batman as Nolan's was.

The difference is, Burton's was more visually stylized. Like a comic book. While Nolan's is more like Batman in the real world.

Isn't it possible that Nolan's vision isn't a freak-out reaction to Schumacher?

Isn't it possible that Nolan just wanted to put Batman in a more real-world setting? Given the fact that Batman is a more realistic superhero to begin with?

And how is that worse than what Burton did?

Like I said, I'm just sick of the hypocrisy.

I think Burton's version was, on purpose, such a reaction to West's version. Before BATMAN, Adam West's version was all really what most people knew about Batman who didn't read books.

Burton talks about it on the SE DVD, where he was conscious on trying to seprate the two as best he could. I see it like Frank Miller's DKR.......an extreme vision of the character to remind people where the character's true roots come from.

I don't think Schumacher's version was in the same respect, that is......I don't think Schumacher set out to make an Opposite version of Burton's. He just did what he wanted, and WB probably saw his version as Burton Lite or something.

Batman Begins is not a knee-jerk reaction to Burton or Shumacher's either. If it is, it's on Warner Brothers part......not on Nolan's. If he wanted to create an opposite version. I feel he just went with HIS vision, which very easily held some ground with Burton's.

I mean, let's face it......Burton didn't piss on Batman. He might have changed things around that sticks out to fans.....but the dude did "get" Batman. He was very much in the ballpark, whereas Shucmacher was still stuck in traffic on his way in.

The realsim isn't anything new, either. Look at Spider-Man, Superman Returns....Superman the Movie.....X-Men, X2..... they are all realistic interpretations of those characters. Some of you make it seem like Batman Begins created the concept of a realistically done hero. That's not the case, at all.

Different interpretations of the character is what makes him great.

If it were up to any of you getting on Nolan, we would never have gotten Batman Year One or The Dark Knight Returns because it's "not the character".

Agreed. It's akin to having different artists draw him. Who wants to see Batman drawn the exact same way, every single time?

Exactly. In the end, some people will like it and some won't.

Hardly rocket science.
