The Dark Knight Rises Nolan not coming back?

yea im still thinking batman will return in 2011. 4-5 years between sequels is too much. 2005 BB 2008 TDK 2011 b3.

Except Inception comes out in 2010, and I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted to take a breather after such a big project, so Nolan would have to work like crazy to get Batman out by 2011. I'm still betting on 2012.

Plus, HP8 is slated in the prime July 15, 2011 date. Not to mention that a good deal of the prime summer 2011 spots are already booked by Sony, Dreamworks and Marvel.

Heck ya!

I vote for those two as well. Both can interact with Wayne and Batman.

So he already ****ed up Superman, and now you want him to **** up Batman?

Bravo.

Don't forget X-men (I hate The Last Stand)

Honestly I think all there's no need for speculation. Until I hear it from the horses mouth, Nolan will be back. All he needs is a break from Batman, work on another film (like he did with the Prestige), and then he's gonna take another short break, and then work on The Goddamn Batman (yes, it's gonna be called The Goddamn Batman :o). Seriously, I believe there's nothing to worry about.

The Dark Knight creamed all of the Marvel movies at the Box office last year , So why should Warner Brother be scared of them . And Harry Potter is not bigger than Batman , They will move their slot like they did last year

Same here. Despite what some may think or say I'm pretty sure most Bat fans were already expecting this even before the Inception announcement.

A lot of people would make the usual charge that I needed to get out into the real world a little more, in response to those comments. But, in truth, I spend all of my time there. My experience of the real world is generally like most other peoples': aggressive, repetitive, stressful, phoney and isolating. It's some kind of therapy to come here and enthuse about geekisms with fellow geeks.
No kidding.

If Nolan doesn't want to make a third film, then don't force him. A truck full of money isn't going to give him the creative motivation to make a quality product. I say bring in new blood for the franchise if he doesn't feel up to it.

The HP movies have consistently been some of the highest grossing movies ever, while the Batman franchise certainly hasn't been...just because TDK made more doesn't mean Batman is any bigger. HP8 is going to be MASSIVE, and they wouldn't move it because of Batman. Plus, both are WB movies, so they wouldn't let them near each other to begin with.

I think 2012 is going to be the release date, regardless of whether Nolan comes back or not. It just seems like the logical release date, given the other movies coming out in the next few years.

Nolan isn't the type of filmmaker who would persuaded that way anyways. If he doesn't feel the need to tell another batman story, he will find another project that stimulates his creative senses that will likely net him a huge payday anyways.

Aren't the kids who grew up with Harry Potter beginning to grow out of it? I mean, the movies have all been pathetic. One of them, I seem to remember, was slightly redeemed in a fairly pervy way by an Asian schoolgirl, but none of them were good. I haven't read any of the books, so can't comment on those, but I find it difficult to believe that any child who really enjoyed the first movie could still be enjoying the franchise now.

Good lord...the story for THE DARK KNIGHT was good, but it wasn't THAT impressive. There's room for improvement, and for a more compelling story to boot, if not for better characters, although I think that's debatable as well.

I find it difficult to believe anyone really enjoys those Harry Potter movies. I've read all the books and I don't enjoy the movies at all. The books are guilty pleasures, but pretty forgettable. The movies have always been chores to sit through. There is absolutely no passion behind them. They are products off a conveyor belt. I kind of thought the one directed by Cuaron was interesting, visually, but even that one wasn't very good.

There's definitely room for improvement in all accounts, except for the characters. I really don't think we could have had a better cast of characters than we were given (or better acting). As far as the rest of the movie, most definitely. There are certain tweaks and turns I would have liked to see messed with.

Yeah, my family has made it an agonizing tradition to see each Harry Potter movie together when it comes out. I'm the only one in the family who dislikes the movies, as I feel like they started out okay and have degraded in quality with each installment.

nolan will be back, but it may be a while til we see batman 3. i don't mind.

Sucks for you that the last movie has been divided in two. :oldrazz: It's like Harry couldn't resist giving you one last kick on the way out. :cwink:

Yeah exactly... 2nd installments that can not be topped 95% of the time... the Last Crusades and ROTK's are rare. WB will probably move ahead anyway and Bale will probably still be in it... but I would have no faith in another guy stepping in. I'd actually prefer a reintroduction... or loose sequel, but I still expect Bale to be back for one more film.

Nah...that shouldn't be the case for Batman.

Batman has history that can still be explored, whereas Indiana Jones and The Lord of the Rings cannot.

Some third sequels do better or can still top it not financially but still be a good film. But just I think they should stick to whats came and keep it more fluent don't change too much but still add things if theres a new director

Well, I want my trilogy. That's what I am, a bat-fan. And I want my trilogy.

Well, I don't want a "trilogy." I want a series!

We were all Batman fans even before Christopher Nolan was offered to take the job as director. WB doesn't need Nolan. What they do need is a good actor to play Bruce/Bats and a great story. There have been many great Batman stories throughout the years in the comics/graphic novels and they have all been pretty much timeless. This tells you that the character of "The Dark Knight" himself looms much larger then any movie director out there. All you need in that department is a someone who respects the character to let the character and the story drive the film.

If James Bond can do it for 20 films before rebooting, then why can't Bats do the same as well?

Fear not, there will be no more "Batman & Robin" movies....gauranteed. When you think about it, that movie did the Batman Universe a favor. It forced a change in the WB's outlook of the Batman character and the rest of DC's iconic superheroes. The movie, Superman Returns, justifies that position even more!

So all I am saying is that the WB does not need Nolan. There is a pool of great directors out there. Just show them the money and show them the studio...that's it.

I disagree on some level.

I think subtracting Rachel and adding Selina, keeping Alfred, Lucious, and Batman, and introducing some combination of The Penguin, The Riddler and Catwoman could make for a film that is as compelling, if not moreso, than THE DARK KNIGHT. Especially if Batman's ongoing story is as interesting as Dent's was, and not just an afterthought and an excuse for action.

The acting was good in TDK. It can still get better.
